Advice on route from UK to Montenegro

We are intending to get as far as we can in the direction of Montenegro during Sept/Oct. We will be in our old girl, a 1989 Peugeot Talbot Express, so need to chug along quietly on not too hilly routes and avoiding tolls where possible. As we have a friend coming too we will be staying in campsites so we can put up the awning. We belong to ACSI. We have five or six weeks to do the trip and are very flexible.

The last time the three of us went on a trip we went from Dover to Lagos, Portugal, and back, we had a great time (and we were still all talking to each other at the end !!!).

Any advice on a suitable route will be gratefully received...............

    One thing to remember is to check with you  insurance company for travelling thru a small distance  of Bosnia in the middle of  Croatia and that Montenegro is not in the EU so need to make arrangements for there. In Croatia you can always by pass the Bosnia part by going on a Ferry.

    Thank you so much, it has given me something to start with. I doubt very much we will actually reach Montenegro but we needed somewhere to aim for !!
