Rain passed I think it must have lasted a lot of the night. Water butts full but even from empty they only take a couple or three hours of decent rain to replenish. Garden looking better but not overly wet! Off to storage to see if bathroom skylight leaked after second fixing. We had some rain whilst we were away and on checking someone! hadn't tightened the screws 😂😂 so glad it wasn't me 😇. Will put bed linen back on and generally check for next outing slightly breezy here so I hope it doesn't dry up the garden again but we've no sun! Feels almost chilly 15.3c 😲

    Whatever you're doing today enjoy.

Returned last night from our short trip to Lewis, which was very interesting and enjoyable, apart from the horizontal rain on Saturday!

We visited the standing stones, the "black houses", saw the brochs, and  had sunny weather to visit the lovely beaches.......I now have a pink head!

Very good crossings on the fairly new ferry, even saw some dolphins and seals.

Holidays over now till September, time to make a list of the jobs to be tackled over the next few weeks.

Sounds wonderful KjellNN wish it wasn't so far up for us. Maybe one day......

Sadly a small amount of rain had come through. All off again and extra sealant applied before refixing.  Now await more rain to check out,. Doesn't look likely at present. Clouds have cleared, except for the odd one,  glorious blue and a burning sun. Bliss 😆. Late, again, lunch in the garden.

Husky I've posted on your equity release thread. Might have forgotten the name again already 😢 with a link to Radio 4 money box programme on the subject. Not sure if you're still monitoring your thread.

Edit I did misquote title it's unlocking cash from your house soooo embarrassing.  But I have owned up and not covered it up!

We have our gardener, who looks after our weeds when we are away, coming tomorrow to power wash all the slabs up back, which are really filthy.

So I have today moved the van so he can easily access the back garden, and I have started cleaning the deck.

OH has  been doing several loads of washing, and been out for some shopping and to collect my latest prescription.

Booked for a tablets  review in a couple of weeks.

Yes, back to everyday life with a bump!

Toes are not too bad, still a bit sore, and rather pink, so she has an appointment for the 27th (non urgent apparently) to appraise our GP of the situation.

Used to be we could get an appointment within a week, things seem to have gone downhill lately!

Well it's a nice sunny evening along the Exe. OH has gone fishing and I'm listening to the second show of the circus! This is the first time we've been next door to a circus, by the fourth show tomorrow I'll be able to do the announcements! It's nice to hear it, even the wall of death motorbikes, the audience is enjoying it. Us ralliers are having a "Circus Funtasia" experience. laughing

After all the rain yesterday today was lovely. Sunshine and clouds this morning, much warmer sunshine this afternoon.

Cycle ride and retail therapy done am, just cycle  ride this afternoon along the river, saw a couple of seals playing in the water quite close to the barrage. This evening we had a large swan wandering around the site, he seemed to be quite unperturbed by all the vans and people around.

Back up the road tomorrow, glad I managed to persuade OH we should have a few days break smile we still have work to do when we get home but I feel more inclined to start it now.

Saw forecast for back home is ground frost tonightsurprised

Bakers glad you got your tubs refilled wink

wow that's early even by Scottish standards 😲😲.

Glad the sun came out and you've had a lovely day. We liked that site when we stopped there once years ago. Another we'd like to return to.

Safe trip home and enjoy your jobs 😉

Yes we have always liked this site and area.  Since its make over last year we have used it more as it's nearly all h/s now, before the make over you had to be here by 12.00 or your chance of getting one was low. The site is more open now as well as the big trees in the service pitch area have been cleared. The current wardens keep the site lovely, with the greater number of h/s now folk are spread out now all over the site, rather than everyone crammed in one corner with the grass pitches all empty.

Ground frost in July isn't  uncommon in the glens when they have had good weather with clear skies but when it's wider spread that's  just not onlaughingwink

Lovely sunny day here today in Glasgow, OH has done 3 loads of washing using solar power.

All ready now for our gardener coming at 8am tomorrow to start cleaning the slabs up in the garden.  Caravan sitting at crazy angle across the driveway.  Managed to get the 2 cars on there too.

Need to replace some steps up in the garden, so need new sleepers or equvalent.  Steps were made 27 years  back from the ropey bits of the real BR sleepers we bought, so they have done well.  Hopefully the good sleepers which retain the garden  will last quite a bit longer!

Still here in St Davids having a lovely time with the family. Apart from one wet day on Tuesday we have had glorious weather so far. We have spent a lot of time on Whitesands beach where the children have made good use of their wet suits and body boards (birthday presents this year). We have also been on a boat trip to Ramsey Island and Bishops Rock to see the puffins and shearwater (saw lots) and also went to visit Castell Henllys an Iron Age hill fort where our son spent his Easter and summer vacations working when he was an archaeology student at York. Great to see somewhere he had told us so much about. On the wet day we visited St Davids Cathedral - a beautiful building. It is another glorious sunny day today.😊

Lovely to read everyone's posts. Glad all those who are away are having a good time and safe travels to those about to set off. Hope you are not too sore after your tooth extraction Helen. At least it wont cause any more trouble.

We've spent much of the week entertaining Mrs M's sister and OH who are staying in a cottage just over the road with their lovely Weimaraner, all 3 dogs getting on pretty well once pecking order was sorted out. Pretty good week weather wise, though Tuesday was pretty much a complete wash out. Yesterday we went over to the south coast and visited Pinetum Gardens near St Austell. It's in the Gardeners' World 2 for 1 booklet. An interesting place to spend a couple of hours, but more for tree lovers than anyone looking for a traditional garden full of colour. It's got several separate areas including a Japanese Garden and a Winter Garden and the pinetum area itself has an astonishing number of single examples of pine species.

Spent the afternoon wandering around nearby Charlestown looking at the tall ships in the harbour. smile

Back home once again, good run up the road no hold ups or issues at all. Weather good for the drive and not to bad here at home, sun and cloud but with the ever present wind.

First load of washing in the machine and van emptied of fresh food that was left.

Grass looks like it could do with a cut so hope tomorrow is dry, haven't done it since coming back from France, our gardener (friend) was doing it as we pulled up.

House feeling chilly after the warmth of being in the van for the last few days. Heating on for a couple of hours to warm through.

I'm idling away a bit of time. Rally BBQ this evening. We had a nice light lunch at The Point, the nearby Marina cafe and another pleasant amble on the sea front. One of the nicest sea side holidays for a long time.

Hope you settle back in TG, I will miss this when I get back to reality tomorrow!
