Recently I had a cataract removed and as a result I am seeing the world in a new and wonderful way. Magpies, crows and moorhens are now seen in iridescent indigo and violet. I'm amazed, have they always been thus, did I see them like this as a child with young eyes or, like Spider-Man, have I received a super sense as a result of my operation?

Had  my  cataracts  removed  some  years  back  now,  Mickysf.

As  I  was  unable  to  drive  I  travelled  to  the  hospital  by  bus,  had  one  eye  done  then  same  transport  home.  Next  day  went  the same route  for  the  post  op  check  and  then  made  an  urgnt  visit  to  the  optical  branch of  a  supermarket to  get  a pair  of wrap  round shades cool 'cos  the  world  was  so  brilliant  I'd  asked  if  neighbour  had  changed his   beige  motor  for a new  WHITE  one  !!

We  don't  realise  the  tiny  changes  can  add  up  to  such  massive  effect !

Seriously  I  hope  that  you  will  enjoy  your  new  clarified  vision  and  give  the  refs  an  easier  time  now  wink

Thanks ABM, will do. I'm waiting to have other eye done soon, As you say, it's amazing the difference in shades and colours between my right and left eye.

Mrs Steve here,  had both my cataracts done some years ago - never looked back! Everything is so bright I wear sunglasses much more frequently. Only disadvantage is I now need reading glasses - I didn't before😬

May need the right eye 'doing' now. I am now noticing a significant difference when I look though one eye and then the other. Brilliant, crisp clear colours in left, dull almost sepia vision in the right plus an annoying floater. Such things, and others, creep up on you unbeknownst, isn't getting 'older' fun!wink
