Thinking of having a comfort stop at the Strensham Services South Bound. Am travelling from South Yorkshire to Wales. It is about the right distance , but what is the parking like for caravans please? I do try to avoid Service areas where you have to share with lorries.

There has been changes to the parking area. There are two areas for caravans. One requires a degree of manoeuring the other faces you on the way in and is drive through. You may find others in these bays. It all depends on your time of day.

Have  a look on Google Earth

Depending on where you are going in Wales - Gloucester South Services is in a league of its own (with the other Teebay in Cumbria).  But all services seem particularly busy between 12 and 1.

Unfortunately Google earth and street view have the old images before the so called upgrade. Strensham north is first class for caravans and when I saw they were revamping the south side, I hoped for something similar. However, no such luck, much of what was lorry parking seems to have become coach parking. Whilst there are a few drive through, because of the limited lorry parking they are often filled with HGV's. The second area with a degree of manovering, is also often filled with HGV's. You can't really blame them, the overall HGV area has been reduced. When we called in solo close to lunch time, there was zero room and HGV's were also parked on the exit road back to the motorway. It does depend on time of day but I now try and avoid it. As stated, if you are not going onto the M50, the next services at Gloucester are much better provided for.

Thanks for your responses. I have taken in what you have said about Strensham. I shall be turning off onto the M50 so I shall not be able to to take advantage of the Gloucester services. If anybody can reccomend services either just before Strensham or on the M50 or A40. In the meantime I shall do a "drive through" a Strensham. Again, Thanks.

I'm a bit late with this but the separate caravan area at Strensham had been reinstated on the left as you drive in. It will be very busy at this time of the year but there is a handy lane for dog walking behind the adjoining hedge accessed from the lodge accommodation parking spot.

As an alternatine, we've used Hopwood Park services on the M42. There is a caravan area which HGVs can't access, but in addition, there is an HGV parking area as you enter which we have seen caravans directed to at busy weekends (there's usually fewer trucks about then. It was quite adequate, but a bit of a hike to the facilities.
