Hirzberg Camping, Freiburg
How easy is it to walk from this site to Freiburg old town? I understand it is about 1 mile but is this on pavements? or a riverside path? I know there are trams but I prefer to use my mobility scooter rather than a wheelchair - trams/buses don't usually take scooters. Any info welcome.

No personal experience as the last time we visited Freiburg we went by train whilst staying elsewhere. According to Google Earth it's about 3 kms from the campsite to the centre. There appears to be a bus stop, service 17, from outside the campsite. Most German cities in my experience have good footpaths, often combined with cycleways. It is a shame they don't have Streetview in Germany which would really provide a definitive answer to your question.

Streetview is usually my friend (not this time), however it gives an overview which is useful but is not so good on dropped kerbs, bins left on pavements, unexpected steps, street parking etc. I'll try emailing the site although my experience of sites replying is not good. We'll probably just turn up and try it. Thanks for the replies.

The site is on a residential road as you say about a mile from the town trams do not run past the site. The road is reasonably quiet and is flanked by pavements and I would have thought OK for a mobility scooter (at least as far as a non user can tell) The site itself may be more of a problem as the reception and facilities are at the bottom with probably six or so motorhome pitches all the other pitches are up a very steep slope and the pitches themselves are sloping. The pitches near the facilities were always full while we were there. I would suggest you need to contact the site about suitability and booking a pitch at the low level.
