Austrian Korridor vignette

We have just returned from a few weeks holiday in Europe and may have found a problem !

We travelled down through Germany (Black Forest) to Switzerland (Interlaken) and then back to Germany (Munich) passing though Austria near Bregenz. Page 94 of 'Touring Europe' says that for this short journey through Austria you need a Korridor Vignette.

We tried the last service station in Switzerland and the first two garages in Austria but they only had '10 day' vignettes.

Having now checked on the 'ASFiNAG.at website it says that as from 1 February you need a new turquoise toll ticket........period of validity of 10days, 2months or 1 year.  There is no mention of a Korridor vignette

You are right, the €2 korridor vignette used to exist, but was abolished about three years ago.  The €8.90 ten day vignette is now the minimum. The editor of Touring Europe may not see this. Could you please e mail her and ask her to update the next edition  of the book.

A few years ago you could join the autobahn for the Brenner at either Innsbruck East or West; not now, you have to join at Innsbruck South to avoid the need for a vignette.  Have also changed my mind on using the Reichen Pass via Landeck; it may be a vignette/Toll free route but it is slow, busy and a long way round and there are no stopping places (except a small area, with tight access, by the lakes near the top and a few weeks ago the parking was full!).  You probably use more fuel that the cost of the vignette and the toll - it is a pretty route though!
