Hi All,

When putting postcodes into our sat nav its pretty easy, however we're doing a tour of France this summer and looking at our MH Sat Nav it wants coordinates in terms of 50°14'28.1"N 3°46'50.4"W as opposed to the 50.241142, -3.780671 which I've seen on google maps. Never done coordinates in terms of west, north etc. Do I enter exactly as written above with all the commas etc? Or do I just enter 50 14 28.1N

Thanks, I know it might seem a dumb question, but never done this before & I don't want to end up in Outer Mongolia

We have a TomTom and it allows either method but have found the decimal ones easiest to use.  What make is your SatNav, maybe a read of the manual may help?

No manual to speak of. Its a Pioneer sat nav fitted into a brand new Bailey MH. The dealer is trying to get us a manual but we've been waiting 4 months now!!!!!

we have a Pioneer satnav/radio/dvd/phone system in our van and have never used it....i have a tomtom with POI files for sites/aires/LPG etc loaded, so i can just 'navigate to'the particular POI icon which will have the GPS embedded into it.

i would thoroughly recommend geting something like this that is easy to update, away from the MH....

however, if you'd like to persevere with the Pioneer unit, the model is likely to be AVIC 9xxxx or AVIC 8xxx. online manuals can be found at the Pioneer website or at www.manuals.lib

    good luck

Hi use street rather than city on tomtom it will then ask for city then street plus number  post code will only put you general area as they leave one digit out of post code  . night mare something to do French law  acsi book generally gives you the street name and number to sites hope this helps

I guess your Pioneer will work the same as TomTom so try entering figures with N, W, degrees, feet & inches [symbols].  As said TomTom allows the 2nd method you quote as well.  We also travel with a Michelin road atlas for France to check the route as we never totally rely on sat nav.  Enjoy your trip to France.

forgot to add, we also have a copy of the manual on DVD which was supplied with the unit, perhaps you might have one in amongst the 'hand over' bumpf supplied by Baileysmile

Have you searched the internet for a copy of the manual for your unit?

Hi, took your advice and now got a manual via the net.

After reading the manual I've been up to the MH today and through the settings i can input via the latitude and longitude expressed as a decimal like this N 50.241142 W 3.780671 so all now good thanks to everyone for the advice.

I am just at the stage of realizing there are manuals out on the net for almost everything!  Although I still search for the paper ones sometimes before I remember smile
