Back home once again. Van unloaded, mail gone through, most of it trash.
Spent 1 hr in the front garden, looking not bad at all. Roses need a good prune, missed the clematis flowering and a couple of the shrubs but there will be other years.
Good drive up from Middlesbourgh, no hold ups until on the outer edge of Edinburgh.
Rain forecast for the next 3 days so washing will have to be dried in the the tumbler, would rather it go outdoors in the fresh air
Shopping in the morning then visit to big Sis.

But More about 'Vanning -- I've just had 12 or so days in The Middle East ! Thetford Forest Club site thro' the hot days followed by the cooling off period at Cherry Hinton !!
As usual both sites manned by more Brilliant Club Wardens, plenty of usage -- Thetford was full to overflowing due to the Sunday being the Desert Rats Holding their Memorial Meeting with East Anglian Troops, Gurkhas, Royal British Legion etc etc. in attendance. The only problem I had was keeping out of the way of them there 1940's Dancers -- some of whom appeared to be of the correct vintage as well !!
Timed my arrival at CH to the minute, 13:01 to find myself about 6th in the queue and the warden { Alan ? } organising away like billy-oh !! They really do get put upon by folks who try to push the limits to, er, well to the limit, but they did it as usual with a light touch & a Smile.!!

Glad you are home safely Tammy girl. You sound as though you have had a wonderful trip. Having looked at the weather forecast I did industrial amounts of washing today and got it all dry outside thankfully.

Thanks Millie, as the washing is just what we have had away with us I'm not to fussed if it waits a day or two, can't think we will be needing shorts and vest tops for a few days having the washing machine away with us made a big difference this time, but you know what its like once you get home everything has to come out and be done.
PS, glad you all had a good weekend.

Day off today ,,,off on a 'day trip' to France a bit of shopping and eating out ,,Mmmm .
Overcast and a stiff Easterly breeze here in Kent.

The other thing about Strumpshaw is you can park your van on the steam site which is convenient and it's only just a short stroll over to RSPB Strumpshaw where you can use your CC membership card for entry
Same here Triky, quite a stiff breeze, enjoy your trip to France

I think Malc is talking about a different type of insurance rather than car insurance. If driving a car owned and insured by the firm then they'd be covered. If driving their own car then business cover needs to be in place on their own policy.
Worth checking first.

It's raining!! The garden will enjoy it.

We need rain too Millie, might get some later today I hope.
Had second sleepless night with ageing deaf terrier who can smell every single visiting hedgehog through our open windows. Too warm too close them. The milkman arrived with his head torch at the usual 2 am. We might as well have had a party in the garden!

Wet windy and miserable, its good to be home
First time in 8 weeks I've got jeans and a jumper on. House heating on as well, felt quite chilly yesterday when I opened up the house.
Most things put away now but the washing can wait must go and get some food shopping done.

It was fairly quiet at work yesterday evening which didn't surprise me. Mondays are usually quiet and it was also a warm, sunny evening, so after 4 hours at work, I still have a full tank of fuel!
Day off today but pouring with rain at the moment so I've spent most of the day watching tv including the afternoon movie on Film 4 which was supposed to be a comedy but not very funny! My favourite comedy is 'Some Mothers do 'ave 'em' but that wasn't on any of the channels today.
We've just been shopping in Tesco, not that we needed much but in this rain, we had to find something do that was under cover and Tesco Extra fitted the bill for that! We managed to spend £36, so another 36 points plus 9 bonus points for Tesco credit card spend so 45 points altogether.
We're back at the caravan now so time to do some zapping with the tv remote control whilst it's continuing to pour with rain outside. The pattering of the rain is making a huge noise on the caravan roof which means having to turn the tv volume up to hear it!

It has finally started raining here. It's been close and humid all day and we're really needing some water for the garden etc. I persuaded OH to take a short drive out to NT Barrington (mentioned on CT recently by the afficionados.) We're doing a lot of work outside at home so I was really glad to get out, we had lunch inside the house. Normally we would sit outside but a swarm of bees had landed on a very low NT sign (about a foot above the front lawn near the tea terrace.) So we were all inside and could see the local beekeeper coaxing them all in to a box. A long process. So no access to the front lawns at all. Nice lunch, home made food with veg from the garden and a drink of apple juice from Barrington too, the cider is good but we knew we had to drive and do more when we got back.
A few pics of our visit. A bit dull weatherwise but it gives you an idea of the lovely gardens and space at Barrington.

It's gorgeous isn't it brue! We had a long day there when we stayed at Wincanton, had long been on my list to visit. The house is interesting for being empty of furniture (if it still is!) and the gardens are very special. We enjoyed the craft workshops as well. The White Garden was my favourite part.

Yes the house is still virtually empty with a few places to sit down. I love being able to roam around it freely, didn't get time today but enjoyed the gardens instead. They've also got a very large secondhand book barn, no-one there, just an honesty box.
We shared a lovely baked raspberry cheesecake with fruit from the garden....forgot to mention that, needed to do some walking afterwards.

My DIL does it, hate it why do I want to see what rubbish she's eating.
Food shopping all done fridge now looking healthy quite surprised only put on 4 lbs over 8 weeks indulgence, soon get that off once I can get into the garden.
Cheered myself up this afternoon by booking a holiday to Malta mid October to see youngest son and family
Been raining since we got up

OH always says NOT going out shopping too often is one of the best ways of saving money! Unless you are very disciplined, it is very easy to buy things you had not intended to buy.
I must admit I am far too fond of stocking up on things like tools from the offers at Lidl and Aldi, OH says it is not safe to send me over to Lidl alone when we need milk!

Lovely photos brue. I love the white garden. Will out that on our list for if ever we are down that way.
