What are you all up to

Not quite, it is a bit colder in Norway than in most of Scotland, colder inland than at the coast of course.
We are in central Scotland, reasonably mild most of the year, and plenty of jobs to be had.
I studied in Glasgow, and settled down here as I married a local. Best decision I ever made!

Brue - I thought of you this morning as we crossed the river on the M5!
In the end we decided it would be just too hot for Harry this afternoon so just had a lazy few hours on site.
So the plan is to do the walk tomorrow morning before it gets too hot and then find somewhere for a bite of lunch.

Interesting point. the British isles and Scotland are warmer than countries on the same latitude (think Canada as well where the difference could be as much as 15C or 20C warmer on the same latitude). It is generally thought to be due to a combination of the gulf stream, and that the British isles is surrounded by a (relatively) warm sea (as water retains heat more than land) and also the prevailing westerly and south westerly winds that bring in warmth from the Atlantic which we soak up before the rest of Europe. But there is some new research showing it's due to the Rockies mountains that we get these winds in the first place

It's getting older though Malcolm. It has already had 8 years worth of even heavy average use. More things are going to go wrong, and it will soon be out of its 3 year warranty. How are you with plumbing matters. If your sink decides to discharge its contents into the cutlery drawer, will you be able to cope? If not the cost of calling someone out is going to mount up. Personally I think it's worth having a go. Even if you bodge it and then have to call in a professional to get it sorted.

According to the service manual, the warranty lasts for 10 years provided it's serviced annually.

We've just had breakfast of cereal and toast this morning and we're now getting ready for our journey back to Worthing.

Oneputt you're not wrong on the warmth in East Norfolk a real scorcher and clear blue. FANTASTIC.
We're at Mundesley and it was 23 in the shade at 7 30. Sitting in the shadow of the motorhome as sun canopy not offering enough shade yet. Really pleasant. Awaiting son partner and the dog before going for brunch, but I've offered to do it in the van. Lovely wander in Cromer last evening but difficult to find somewhere to eat as we'd not booked. We don't know the area! Queues for fish and chips like I have never seen before! We ate at Craft Burgers very nice but no crab 😲. Watched a fabulous sunset over the sea on the east coast. Most strange! We leave tomorrow as another site booked but would love to stay and will be back, hopefully with the same weather? 1976 again 😉😉. Yesterday the sand was too hot on bare feet! FABULOUS.
Happy Fathers day to all dad's here are passed. Have a wonderful day, stay cool 😉😉

I would read carefully what it covers, the 10 years will be the water ingress warranty, it is unlikely to apply to everything, for example the fridge, heating, plumbing, electrics etc.
Things like lightbulbs and water pumps are "consumables", things that only last so long. I am very surprised they changed light bulbs for you without any charge!

I agree. It would be great if caravans came with such a warranty, but they don't.
As you say KjeIINN the 10 years will be a (very) conditional warranty against water ingress.
Caravans typically have something like a three year warranty, but the various fittings (fridge, cooker, air con etc) have whatever their manufacturer offers - maybe 1 or 2 years. Consumables (basically, anything that wears out) are not covered. Not sure what that leaves covered for three years (?!).
Surprised you didn't read about that in your documentation, Malcolm.

Another scorcher down here in darkest Devon, so we decided on an early start before it got too hot for the dogs. Drove to Totnes and parked at Steamer Quay (no charge, machine out of order - result! ).We walked to the very pretty village of Ashprington, high up on the way with great views down onto the river Dartford and back along the riverside. A lot of new, presumably expensive apartments being built along the river which spoils the view somewhat.
Now back having a lazy afternoon in the shade with a nice cuppa - bottle of something on standby in the fridge for later.

Walked to nursing home to visit my mum this afternoon, so she could ring her sister in Bristol and FaceTime mine in France. We found a place in the garden that was in shade at 28C. That was plenty hot enough, apparently 37C in Orange. Walked back in a big loop through the forest, consuming all the bottled water we took on route. However, very pleasant under the trees. Considering the temperature the squirrels seem exceptionally active.

Returned this afternoon from a brilliant, but very hot last minute weekend away. The plan was to try everything out in the new van, which we did, very thoroughly The CL was great and only about 10 miles from home. Met up with a couple of friends in the village pub, on the Saturday night, although no alcohol for me as still on the antibiotics.
Everything worked well in the caravan, even when we had to switch over to gas, as the couple in the next van managed not only to trip their ehu, but the whole sites too! Owners very good and soon had it back on.
Dropped caravan back in storage on way home, passed lots of vintage motorcycles on the annual run.
Chilling now, but less than a week now until we head to yorkshire for main holiday, whole week off work, fabulous!

Nice to see the photos and hear today's events. About 28C here just now, so after visiting my Mum I poured out two large Pimms for OH and self and lazed in the garden...OH had a second large glass so all happy.
Glad the new van behaved itself Helen, hope you enjoy your Yorkshire trip.

Thanks Brue, would really like a large Pimms too, sounds just wonderful in the sunshine, finished antibiotics now, so perhaps tomorrow.

We are having a great time, but Harry's feeling the heat! Luckily most of today's walk was shaded so he did well to manage 6 miles.
Glad the new van's behaving itself - where about in Yorkshire are you heading? Hope you're as lucky with the weather as we were last month.
Might pick your brains about that CL some time!
