Rip off Calais vets
I had used vets in the Calais/St Omar area for a number of years and was always charged about €35 per dog. Now I have used vets from Tarragona in Spain to Vets in Rovinj in Croatia (please note how I slipped in how travelled we are) yesterday I was back at the vets in Vilsburg in France which I have used before and was charged €16 per dog (used our own pills). I have three simple rules for finding a vet. 1. Do they speak English, as this helps. 2. How much do they charge. 3. Can I get to the Ferry/Tunnel in 5 days!!

It's called 'Supply and Demand'. Vets near the ports used to have the monopoly on these checks, because they had to be done within 24 hours. So they were able to charge premium prices (just like the prices paid for Strawberries and Cream at Wimbledon). Nowadays people can go where they want, and prices are less.
My son paid 11 euros at a rural vets in southern France - and was given a free Scaliebor collar to try, too.
There is a website, somewhere, which lists Vets that people have used, and their approximate charges. I'll look for it later.

This is the Google Map of Recommended Vets - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?msa=0&mid=zTPBDq9Df4L4.kSm3eLuvVb2g
If you have any Vets that you would recommend to help others searching for Vets please let me know and I will add them to the Map.
If you feel you have been 'ripped off' let me know those and they will be added with appropriate warnings about their cost.

I used a vet in Guemene sur Scorff and the charge was 58 Euros for two big dogs including wormers and very thorough examination - no English vet would see a dog for under £30 a consult? Last year they had to do a second signing and stamping the passport because the boat was delayed and they didn't charge for that one. I think someone got quite a bargain there!
