Hi

we stayed at this site a couple of years ago before catching early morning ferry home.  I have heard that the site has been taken over and improvements to facilities have been made.

has anyone stayed recently who can provide update.

thanks

If this is the site just down the road from the ferry port, it is now called Riva Bella, and is a Seasonova site. We stayed in Sept 16, and twice in the last few weeks. It is definitely being improved. Toilet blocks have been refurbished, grass and hedges are tidier. Not used it, but there is a snack bar. Also, a pool is being built as we speak.

All in all, we found it a perfectly suitable stop over site, and commented that when finished, it would probably merit more than an odd night.

Hi Snooky, we stayed here (Riva Bella now) in mid May for one night.  The site is fine very tidy and the toilet block near us was excellent, very new and clean. They are obviously working on the second one.  Would have no trouble recommending.

Hi, this is now Riva Bella & is minutes from the ferry. We stayed for one night lastTuesday. It's a quick check in, with a choice of any pitch. Some parked over to the far left of the site as you go in. There you can pitch with car and caravan still hitched up if you want an early start the next day. The refurbished loo block is very good and very clean. They looked to be finishing off the 2nd loo block and the new pool looked to be finished minus the water. We thought it was quite a nice site and will certainly use it again. We would also use it for a longer stay.

Intended to stay there last Saturday night (10th June) prior to the early Portsmouth Ferry. Registered and paid however found a group in the centre of the site playing very loud music which could be heard all over so returned to reception, obtained a refund and went down the road to Haute Coiture which was very peaceful. Beware at Rivabella, it is an ACSI site though not in the book and the sign is not very prominent and once registered they will not change your booking

Thank you, i am sure it is Riva Bella now.  Can anyone give the price for an overnight stay?

We used a camping cheque £15.95 bought as part of the club's package deal with ferry.

re IanHNW's comment about being an ACSI site, it doesn't appear on the low season discount card app.

re comments about noise, our 3 separate night stays have all been quiet, albeit a lot of people stay for proximity to ferry port for the 8.30am sailing, so there are plenty of early risers.

I just read through this thread - somebody actually turned round and left a campsite because there was music playing !

I did say 'loud music' and it was accompanied by plenty of shouting  and no doubt fuelled by the beer cans lying around

When we were there last September they were adamant that they were not in ACSI and charged me full price, despite some people on here saying they accepted their cards, and me being told in an email from Seasonova that they did accept ACSI!  But I did notice that they now accept Camping Cheques, which makes it a better price.

Used this site on numerous occasions have`nt had any problems but will be pleased to see refurbished toilet blocks were`nt great before. Haute Couture closed earlier last year in September and some pitches opposite the pool are on a steep slope, overall i would suggest Riva Bella is overall easier for a Ferry stopover.

I stayed there last week. It is much improved, new toilet blocks, well cut grass and generally a very nice site. Would go back without hesitation.

And it is very handy for the ferry.

Haven't  tried since new management but it has to be better than before.

We prefer the Yellow Village site (Haute Couture) just wish the didn't  close so early in September. If you go further into the site the pitches are much better and more level than the ones opposite the pool, if it's not wet the ones down the bottom by the canal are long enough for you to remain hitched up. Easy walk along canal to Pegasus Bridge, 5 min to ferry.

for those in MHs the aire is situated at Boulevard Maritime and will be open all year round.

weve used all crossings and found this aire very handy on this route.

In answer to Snooky I have booked, through the club for one night in-bound at the end of August for £16,88. I was unaware we could use Camping Cheques! In the past when it was the Municipal owned Les Pommiers we would email for a booking and pay on arrival. We followed this procedure again this year and were asked for payment in Euros 30 days in advance. I then thought if the other UK national club could book this site why not the C&MC? Exploring our club web site I found a link though Overseas Travel. Suggestion to our Magazine editor: an item to highlight this service to members.

On our return trip in late June this year there were dozens of UK caravans there - obviously some sort of rally / organised trip. It wasn't full but was crowded and people were pitching up far too close to one another - nowhere near CC guidelines.
