Towing with a Pick-up in France
Alot of the French campsites we've been looking at say no commercial vehicles?
Technically my Toyota Hilux pick-up is a commercial vehicle, even though it's actually the family car, not sign written and is nice and clean and modern etc...
Has anybody had any problems towing with a pick-up abroad?
Probably being paranoid, but I'd rather not drive 800 miles and be denied entry!!!

Which sites are these? In thirty-odd years of camping and caravanning in France I've never seen this mentioned anywhere. I have seen signwritten vans, pick ups, tractors, buses, horse boxes, and a whole variety of other forms of motorised transport being used as tow cars or motorhomes.
I have seen signs advising 'No twin axles' however, and seen the rule applied and people actually be turned away but from your avatar yours looks like a single axle.

Thanks ValDa, like I said, probably being paranoid, but didn't want any nightmares after cooping up the kids for many, many hours on the road!!!

If you have children with you then, as you say, you don't want to disapointment them and if you say you've read it whilst looking at sites then you need to double check. I would imagine you've probably booked a site, so then I would email them, quoting the make and model of your pick-up (not stating that it's a commercial vehicle) and ask if they have any problems.
If you haven't booked anywhere, then I would always have a good guide book, and a Plan B just in case.
My son drives a Nissan Navara - so a very similar vehicle - and it's more luxurious and tidy than our Mondeo! He joined us on campsites last year without any problems.
