Dog Friendly Sites
Hi Folks, We have 1 medium/large dog that needs a good walk a couple of times a day. We have just spent a week on a Fly / Drive to the Costa blanca to look at some sites to maybe spend 6 / 8 weeks in the winter there. Although many sites are "dog Friendly" very few have any where close to walk off their sites and a lot just have a small "poohing" area. So we are now planning to set our sites on France. Obviously to get the winter temps we will have to go south and we have not yet taken our m/home abroad so we would be obliged if anyone can suggest places which would suit our requirements. Smaller sites would be preferred but we will look at any suggestions.
Thanks All

If you do spend any time in France with your dog you'll find that almost every town and village have their 'Sentiers'
These are trails, paths, walk and cycleways that are indicated by small coloured markers on posts, gates, walls and anywhere that they can easily be seen (see photo)
Some are just paths a few feet wide but they can also be old railway tracks that quite literally go for mile after mile.
There are coastal paths (Sentier Littoral), Green paths (Chemin Verts) and country paths ( Chemins de campagne) that are easy to find and dog walkers use them for off-lead walking.
As for sites, can't help you there, I'm afraid we're Aire users and rarely go on Campsites.

Thanks KeithandMargaret. We hadn't thought much about the aires yet, something else to look into.

I cant see you will get the same temperatures in the French Riviera over the winter than say Costa Blanca.
Will you not have the same predicament with sites there. Unless someone comes up with a definite site with a large dog walking area then I can't see you will be better off in France you might as well just go further south into Spain for better weather. Maybe find some of the sites and look on Google Earth at the surrounding area, this might give you some clues.
On another note. Lots of sites along the main routes in France close throughout the winter months so you will need to take that into consideration when planning which way to go.
