    Op

there are loads of them check my last pics, they are mainly on the cliffs near the two right platforms. Difficult to see in flight, but once u spot one, they are all inclumps.

the pic of the puffin outside a crevice is nesting so i expect they may be near to hatching. Centre platform left side and nearest face.

booked in redlands in 10 days time for a trip to skomer then red kite later for a glimpse of osprey

    good luck atbempton.

Thanks Blue.  Hope you have a great time at Skomer, we only saw 1 Puffin come in with sand eels, I guess by now there will be many more.  There are also 3 x Short Eared Owls on the Island, we saw 2 of them.  Only saw 1 Gannet and that was at sea fishing.  Red Kite was really good, in total between Lake Clywedog and the Osprey Project we saw 5 Osprey, no chicks though.  A couple of miles from Lake Clywedog there is a car park in the Hafren Forrest.  If you walk to Severn break its neck and stand on the little pedestrian bridge by some falls there are both Dippers and Grey Wagtails.

Directions - if you leave the car park back to the road and turn right after about 700 metres you come to, on the right, a large entrance where they are clearing trees, turn into this entrance and in couple of hundred yards you will come to a small footpath (on the right) that leads to the bridge.  We did park our car at the top of the junction but that was at the weekend when no work was going on.

PS in total we watch 9 Ospreys on the trip as we returned via Rutland where there were 2 x adults and 2 x chicks

Lovely to read and see pictures of all your wildlife sightings. We are off to Bempton as part of our holiday in a few weeks, hoping to see as many Puffins as we did a couple of years ago.

    Sorry OP

misread your previous post late last night, blurrey eyed and missed Pufflings.

gannets nesting in full view with eggs 2weeks ago, guillimots had eggs as did razorbills.

There was a peregrine hunting close to the furthest platform on the left, visible perched on the left of platform.

What is the best way to see Skomer, are there any best places to go, and is it easy to get around? Don't want to miss any must see's. .

Blue, when you get off the boat the wardens meet you at the top of the steps and give you a briefing including what is where, you also get a map.  We did a circular walk and got just about everything although we didn't see the white Puffin.  The range of birds, fauna and flora is quite stunning.

We got the midday boat with a return boat of 5pm.  We turned up at  Lockley Lodge (visitor centre) at about 1030 am and there were still spaces on the midday boat, but they do sell out very quickly.  We wandered up to the coastguard lookout whilst waiting for the boat. There are toilets on the Island but no food our drink so you have to take your own.

    Thanks OP

Really looking forward to this trip, OH is loading the van already. Do you have any suggestions on what lens length is best, or parking for the day.

I guess you have a site in mind for Bempton, but The Old Mill Caravan Park is quite close and Adult only. Mainly seasonal and only 6 touring pitches which were all empty when we enquired. bit of a tight squeeze for the touring pitches and no awnings allowed, but very close to Bempton.

We stayed at Blue Rose which was a great site, but a fair distance away and probably further than we would have liked.

Just found this by chance that some may be interested in. I don't know how to make it live, but the RSPB are asking for pics of puffins with food in their bills to study the decline in Puffins.

There is a large National Trust car park with an overflow just up from the reception/booking shop.  Members don't have to pay for the parking, no idea what the cost is though.

I took my bridge camera which has a 25 to 600mm lens, as I didn't want to carry a lot of gear.

There were a couple of people on our boat with DSLR's etc but the Puffins are so close in places that to be honest you can take photos on a phone.

Fantastic view of a Red Kite today as it swooped down in front of the car,  closely followed by an attacking crow. Not sure how we missed hitting both surprised  it when you see the Kites that close you realise just how large they are.

    Lovely Puffin picture Oneputt.

3 x juvenile Gold Finches in garden this morning eating plant seeds, haven't learn the art of bird feeders yet.  Strange to see them without their red faces.

If you want to email me the picture to valdaathome@gmail.com then I can resize it and post it on here. It's easier than explaining how to do it, and took me ages to find a way to make photos anything other than a thumbprint size.

On a CL at the moment. Heard a rustling sound coming from the awning at 1 o'clock this morning. Went to investigate. We had a visit from Mrs.Tiggywinkle herself. Got some gloves from the car (no one else on site) and helped her back on her way, pointing towards Slugland.

Went for a walk in the grounds of Croft Castle (Herefordshire) today. Lots of Redstarts and lovely to mention, lots of Mistle Thrushes in this area. We also have a Blackbird on site that only sings 3 notes, over and over and over again. There are other Blackbirds who have the full repetoire but this one is like no other I've ever heard. Strange.

Spotted a couple of owls flying by the site the other night, and could hear them calling. Not sure of type, but the calls didn't sound like that of Tawny Owls. Roe deer in the woods above the CL and spotted our first Red Squirrel of this trip yesterday a Glamis Castle. Today caught a glimpse of an Osprey flying over to the Loch of Lows, where there's an observation point.

Listened to Yellowhammers near Corfe Castle in Dorset today, the "little bit of bread and no cheese" call was really clear. Also Stonechats on view, left my camera behind and knew my phone wouldn't take a good photo. Isn't that always the way!

    Tricky

If you type free photo editor into google and select Tech Radar best available free software, you will be able to download the software that will allow you to resize your pics.

As always copy or duplicate your image first so that you resize the copy and you still have the original at full size.

Depending on your camera, you may have photoshop elements supplied with your camera.

Two more wild flower photos, these were taken near Beachy Head in East Sussex. Viper's Bugloss and Burnet Rose. I read yesterday, but can't find the link, botanists are concerned over a recent survey because 50% of youngsters taking part couldn't recognise a Bluebell (too much time spent looking at phones rather than what's around them?)
