We did that trip about 3 years ago TDA. It was wonderful. The weather was amazingly good and Iona looked like the med.

Just having a look in on here from the sunny south coast. Have been up on Beachy Head this morning, lovely weather but gales later.
Would definitely choose Mull over Skye if staying near Oban or even the bridge over the Atlantic to Seil. Skye in bad weather just isn't worth it.

Yes, the beaches are beautiful. We had a lovely day I do recall. I am not very good on ferries nowadays, plus having the dogs limits the amount of time we like to be on ferries. Would like to do Staffa and Fingals Cave though, like OP.
Just had a terrific downpour here, roads flooded, cars stuck. Definitely a day to sort out some things at home, indoors! Hope others elsewhere are having better weather.

I did the Mull, Iona, Staffa trip too. No Minke though. Not even a dolphin. Got some good puffin shots on Staffa. This was the Lismore lighthouse on the way out on a murky morning.

That's a beautiful photo CY. Very atmospheric, even small.

Madame Kirkwood has cast her spell and it's been absolutely pppp......persisting down all day here!
Managed to get the dogs out for a comfort walk at 6:30 this morning but since then it's definitely been a case of having to keep their legs crossed! But I've a feeling I'm going to have to brave it and step out into the wet stuff before long!

Sunny and dry all day but strong gusty Westerly at the B/yd.Assisted pulling in a late arrival ,,stuck on the mud ,,.Cut and machined some strong metal plate drilled and ground ready to weld up for a handrail support on one of the pontoons.,,"never a dull moment ".

A bright and sunny morning here with quite a bracing breeze. Clouded over this afternoon though so we might be getting the rain later. We went into Cromer this morning and had a wander along the pier - unfortunately the Cromer Pier Show doesn't start for a couple of weeks which is disappointing as we enjoyed it last year. We then walked along the sea front to see the new children's play area, loos and showers all of which can be lifted and moved to higher ground if a storm surge is threatening - quite impressive. We walked back into the town and had a crab sandwich at The Jetty Café. It used to be the Jetty Coffee Bar many moons ago and I spent many a happy hour in there with my best friend when we holidayed near here in our teenage years. Sadly the juke box is no longer there.

We were there last night JVB and was going to try and contact you. However, no chance with the appalling Wifi. They have been promising an upgrade for almost two years now but nothing has happened. Given the amount of money that gets pumped in every weekend it really is a poor show.
We are also back home now, next trip end of July, Hawes for a week. Then more away time in September.
I think you have made the right decision Malcolm. When you visit again my advice would be to go for a maximum of four sites in your 3 weeks in Scotland. That will give you 5 nights at each and a chance to explore the areas.

Started raining mid morning and it hasn't stopped all day
Back at work, so have been in the office keeping dry! Sounds like you have had the better weather Millie.

Very breezy day here but warm and overcast. Didn't do washing as forecast so for a wet day, it certainly gave the appearance it would be. But it started a light rain about 6.30pm which has ceased already. But local forecast still saying rain all night and most if tomorrow with 40-50 mph winds 😲. Wish it would get on with a decent rain as I'm already fed up with the greyness 😔
I sent parcel to New Zealand, hand knitted jumpers for each granddaughter one by me and one by my mum (86) along with birthday cards for youngest who'll be 1 on 26th and son in law's in mid July. Can't believe this time last year we were excited and preparing for our trip and awaiting youngest arrival. Still next trip booked so not too sad.
Met an ex colleague for cuppa in her lunch hour and restocked the bird store cupboard.
Quick catch up in here before a restful evening.
Well SteveL and JVB you couldn't make that up 😂.
Sounds like most people enjoying there trips and days even if they are at work Helenandtrevor 😉. Malcolm pleased you're not going to rush about over Scotland as planned, I hope the repairs are successful with a reasonable cost, that'll be any savings from site fees and fuel in Scotland gone and more I suspect 😉

I would have thought Malcolm's mover would still be under warranty? Maybe the air con too?
We went to Skye for a day from Morvich Club site, would never think to go from North Ledaig, much too far.
Last day on our present site, today we visited Ulm, the Minster there is the tallest in the world apparently, it certainly was impressive. Dull earlier, but sunny now, just about to start packing stuff away in preparation for our journey north tomorrow.

After reading of SteveL and JVB playing "ships that pass in the night" perhaps warden's could put up a notice board in site information rooms then members put their pitch numbers on it ,if they so desire then we could introduce ourselves.😀😀.Just a thought.

Grey and drizzle here this morning but turned out lovely after lunch. went out on trike and found another road into Evian along the lake side, no cycle track or lane but I think it would be ok out of busy times. There was a lovely area on the way with a boardwalk and jetties going out onto the lake. Today is a holiday (again) so plenty of people out and about once the sun came out. Lots going on, on the lake and families out walking and swimming.
We then decided to take another different road back to the site and ended up high up in the hills/mountains, felt as if we were on top of the world, road came to an end at the ski chalet Oops better find another way down again then I love these happy accidents, found out when we got back that the other side of the ski run was Switzerland. Wasn't sure when we came here if I would like it as much as Annecy but it has grown on me.

Yes, the aircon is under warranty for five years and motor mover too. The awning repair will cost us about £300.

We've got up to a rather wet day. We're just about to have breakfast of cereal and bacon and eggs this morning. Later we plan to go to Tesco to do some shopping and fill up diesel. So at least we'll be out of the rain whilst shopping.
I also notice from the National Trust for Scotland website, that there are some NT gardens in the local area. The problem is the rain.

I would go with a tour of the Oban distillery Malcolm. It won't be dry in there, 😬 but it's the right sort of wet.
