What are you all up to

And here are the poppy fields at Pentire, though I'm not sure these pictures really do them justice! They are all wildflowers meadows and grow naturally, nothing is sown as such. They vary from year to year - in 2016 there was hardly a flower to be seen!

We visited Culzean Castle and Gardens and joined a guided tour around the house. The Isle of Arran was visible across the sea. Lovely sunny weather during our visit accompanied by a nice cool breeze. After that we returned back to the club site in Ayr and took a walk along the river bank into the High Street of the town centre.
We returned to the caravan in time for our evening meal. The sun has gone in now and thick clouds gathering. It looks as though it may rain later.

We arrived at Seacroft about 12.30 after an extremely good journey. Got a really nice pitch with a sea view. Arrived in lovely sunny weather but it has clouded over now. Our evening meal (shepherds pie) is in the oven and we are enjoying a pre dinner drink while enjoying the view.
Great photos moulesy. Love the poppy fields. Such a lovely sight. Great photo of Mrs M, Harry and Lady as well. Enjoy Cornwall.

Lovely photos Moulesy, especially Crantock beach, I bought a watercolour print of the beach and poppies last year to remind me of the beach, it was one of my favourites.
Had a lovely day out at a Vintage and steam show today, stopped on way home for a late Sunday Lunch. Rain held off until we got home, then it poured down. Blue sky and sunshine back now, just been out for a walk round the park with the dog.
Enjoy Cromer Millie.

Slow lazy morning today as I didn't get much sleep last night with the rain hammering on the roof and the wind singing through the trees. It quieted down around dawn so got a few hours after that. OH slept through it all as usual.
Sun came out about mid morning temps is now much fresher at 24c with a fresh breeze coming of the lake. After lunch we took the trike out to Thallon Le Bains a bit further up the lake towards Geneve. We were lucky in that with it being a holiday weekend here there was all sorts going on on the lake side, from Polynesian dancers to races on sail boards. The kids were having a great time as most of the tents and stands were aimed at them. We cut it a bit short as the clouds were gathering over on the Swiss side of the lake and we didn't want to have to ride back in the pouring rain, we made it back in time
Have a good time at seacroft Mille
Moulsey the photos are lovely especially the poppies, I love to see them growing in big drifts.
Malcolm, enjoy Oban, North Ledaig its one of my favourite places/sites doesn't matter what the weather is like its magic.

Hopefully another time OP. We usually come to Norfolk about twice a year.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip this year Tammy. Hopefully it is making up for last year when I seem to remember that your OH wasn't well.

Thanks Mille, you remember right. Thankfully everything good so far, really enjoying this trip even the bad weather yesterday hasn't upset me hopefully our next stop we can get back onto the pedal bikes, all this being driven about isn't helping me keep fit or keep my weight down, too many ice creams and cakes being consumed.

Thanks, Tammygirl. Looks good from what you say. Looking forward to it!

We've just got up. It's pouring with rain at the moment but the forecast says it may stop later so we'll wait until 11 a.m. before hitching up for our journey.
I'm persuaded to cancel the rest of the Scottish tour after North Ledaig. There is too much to do now as we have to collect our awning from Chipping Sodbury Caravans after getting the aircon repaired in Derbyshire. So now the plan is to go on to Chipping Sodbury after the aircon repairs and then back to Worthing. Also we discovered the motor mover is not working so we'll need to visit their service department to check it. Plus buy a new toilet fresh up kit.
Once we are back at Worthing, we can use the Smart car to visit other places i.e. Kent and Surrey which will save money in fuel cost. It will also save further cost in site fees.

We've just had a breakfast of chocolate crossants with a pot of tea. Now we're getting ready for the next stretch of our tour to North Ledaig. There's a Tesco Superstore within 6 miles of the club site which has a petrol filling station too. So we'll be able to do our shopping and fill up diesel after we arrive and get settled into our pitch.
We're hoping to visit the Isle of Skye during our stay. I remember it as being a ferry crossing to get there but I think they have built a bridge across to the mainland if I'm not mistaken. That will make it quicker and easier to get there.
There's not enough time to wait for good weather so we'll just have to manage touring by car in the rain.

It's about 120 miles to Skye from North Ledaig. That's a long day out.

There's been a bridge to Skye for a lot years now Malc.
There is still a ferry crossing from Glenelg
Between March and October, a small vehicle ferry connects to Kylerhea on Skye across the powerful currents of the narrows.
Ferry is a good place to see White Tailed Eagles and seals, if lucky you can also spot otters

Sounds like a good day on Saturday Helen. Hope you enjoyed Letchlade. Shame about Chipping Norton. We always used to stop there on our way to Devon years ago and there used to be some lovely little independent shops.

Month ago we drove from home to Pendle Hill and Malham Cove to see some rare birds, admittedly on that occasion we stayed overnight. Plus the birds weren't there! Still it was a nice trip which we enjoyed.
We have to drive some 120 miles West (each way) just to get in/out of East Anglia
This week I'm taking the van to Humberside, from there I will then take a day trip to Bempton Cliffs. Why, well I only want to be at Bempton for one day and don't want to tow the van all the way there for my 4 night trip. So a kind of compromise really.
I am probably not in the normal mould for a vanner (whatever that is), but each to their own.

Yerbutt I doubt that you would stay on Chester CC for two nights and decide 'well I have not looked at what the Wirral or Chester or the Ellesmere Port Canal Museum have to offer. I have one day at liberty? I know instead of seeing what is local I will drive to Carlisle and see what is there'.

As Oneputt says there has indeed been a bridge "over the seas to Skye" for some years now. You can get a fairly decent view of it from the roadside approaching Kyle Of Lochalsh from the east, but the very best view is of the spot where the toll booths used to be !! Unusually the politicos used their power to remove the charges !!
And He's right on the point about seeing otters at the Glenelg ferry terminal -- there is an Otter Haven very close !!

Forget Isle of Skye Malcolm just enjoy Oban, go up to the folly on top of the hill and enjoy the views over the bay. The Tesco store is in Oban, you could park there and then take a look around the town first then get your shopping before heading back. Fort William isn't far away why not take a look up there, not as pretty as Oban though.
I think you are wise to cancel the rest of your trip it was always going to be very busy with amount of sites you had planned in such a short time frame. We've live in Scotland for most of our lives and we are still finding places to visit.

When we stopped at North Ledaig, we had a day over on Mull and Iona. Ten minute drive to Oban for ferry, relaxing scenic ride over to Mull, watching seals and dolphins, drive across Mull to park up and catch passenger ferry to Iona, spent around four hours chilling on gorgeous beaches, looking at all lovely places there, then catch ferry back, scenic drive round Mull, catch late ferry back to Oban, ten minutes back to site. Great day out, not too much time spent sat in car, lots of scenery, wildlife, cultural delights.

I used to use the Fishnish -- Lochaline car ferry over to Mull.
In my days (!!) it was a Drive on Reverse off ferry, and quite often there was a rapid change-over of drivers I can tell you when the waiting vehicles saw the cars, campers etc reversing off and up the ramp with waiting vehicles on one side and the deep blue on the other-- with no safety barriers !!

We went to Fishnish! You just have to with a lovely name like that!
Last CalMac ferry we used was Portavardie to Tarbert on Mull of Kintyre. The weather was appalling, you couldn't get out of car. It was the last for a couple of days due to extreme weather, not helped by a landslide over on Kintyre that had blocked a main road. To quote Private Fraser...."marooned"!
All adds to the fun though! It was November.

We did roughly the same trip TDA but from Iona we then went on to the Island of Staffa, landed there and wandered into Fingals cave and climb to the top of the island, fantastic. On the way back to Iona managed to spot a Minkie Whale
