What are you all up to

Glad you have somewhere good for the next few days. We went out this afternoon on the trike to have a look around, its not far to the Swiss border, however we forgot to take the passports so will have to go back again. Weather set to be good tomorrow but then we have a few days of mixed rain and sun. We like Luxembourg for our last stop 3 or 4 days, before the Zeebrugge ferry its a nice easy drive to fill the last day rather than hanging about at the terminal cause you've got there too early.
Looks like we will do a 1 night stop once we get off the ferry at Hull on Sunday as we want to go and see the people who made the trailer and they are at Durham. Will probably try Middlesbourgh or Thirsk. Guess you are doing something on the way up.

We went to Tesco in Dumfries today to do our shopping and refuel. Then it started raining so we had a quiet afternoon in the caravan to recover from all that travelling yesterday.
This site overlooks the harbour so nice view of the sea and the village across the water. When the weather clears, we might try doing some of the walks in the local area which the warden recommended.

I should really take the ice cream 'selfies' before I've eaten half the 'boule' !
We're winging it on a reprieve from the docs for a six week gap between tests, and a lot of back-up pills. From Camping de la Baie, Cath can make it down to the harbour and to the promenade.
Next stop the 'secret' campsite and possibly a 'story'!

That is Pete a wonderful guy, he owned a stone masonry business. He is nearly 100 years old now. He did so much work on Romsey Abbey that a couple of his craftsmen actually carved a likeness of him, without the pipe, and set it into the walls of the Abbey!!!

We're on Garlieston Club Site, EasyT.

Not been on here for a while so a quick update. We are now into our 5th week of our Scottish tour and have had really good weather for nearly all of the way. All the sites we've stopped on have been very peaceful, although many of the CLs have been nearly full. We're now at Greenpark CL at Banchory and I must thank Firedragon & Lechen for the recommendation. If I get time I'll update the reviews for all the sites we've visited.
Not had time or the inclination to read all the posts that I've missed so I hope that all that are or have been away are having a good time and that the weather's been as kind to them as it has to us.

Had a lovely day today. Son and DIL wanted to take 2 grandsons somewhere where dogs not welcome so we said we would take their 16 week old cocker spaniel for a walk. She is such a lovely good girl. Some pavement walking followed by a more free run (on the extendable lead) across the fields. So nice to have a dog to walk again.

We're on the second day of our Scottish tour, NTH, and whilst the weather was great yesterday, it has been raining all afternoon here in Garlieston and is still raining as I type this. However, the BBC weather forecast says that it will stop by 6 a.m. tomorrow and we'll get fair weather after that. So fingers crossed!

Thank you, IanH. We'll be going on to Ayr on Saturday for 2 nights and then on to North Ledaig. The forecast says some light rain with sunny spells during our stay in Ayr. We're hoping to visit the NT Culzean Castle whilst there and fingers crossed that we can get a sunny spell then!

That's understandable. It's the best time of the year to be going on holiday. Plenty of hours of daylight with only 20 days to go before the longest day! Make the most of it before the days start drawing in.
Where are you planning to go, IanH? Wherever it is, I hope the weather is good for you.

I also did not encounter any problem on the A17, JVB66 after leaving the National for Scotland. It took us a total of eight and a half hours to get all the way from Sandringham to Garlieston, a distance of 345 miles, including stops. Have a nice time at Clumber Park!

We're having breakfast of cereal followed by bacon and eggs in the caravan. It's stopped raining. The tide was in when we first got up but it's going out now. We can see the harbour from the front window. Although it has stopped raining, it's still grey and overcast. It should stay dry now and maybe some sunshine by the afternoon if the weather forecast is correct.

It's nice and cool here in Garlieston, Scotland. I prefer it this way, triky auto. It's nice to get away from the heat down south!
We've just finished breakfast. The tide is out in the harbour and it's starting to brighten up although there's still a lot of grey cloud.

What another glorious morning here in Essex. I should be doing constructive things but decided to add a photo on here. What a mission! I used the method I used last time emailing it to myself but even the smallest resize was above 550kb 😲. I used photo resized but had trouble finding where it went after resize to retrieve. Not being one to give up easily I have at last succeeded. But I remember why I don't add photos to this site 😢😢😲😲😲😂😂😂
This is rambling rector rose scrambling through our interesting tree. This is beautiful for these few days a year. Despite it supposing being rampant it has taken years and years to get to this stage. I have planed a red Minnie haha to scramble too but it's only on its third year and just starting to climb, despite being given the best of everything!
Must post this before I'm timed out 😉

Sounds like everyone is enjoying their holidays.
It's another beautiful day here, up early to walk the dog before it gets too warm, walked up by the badger set, but no luck seeing them today.
Trip to the farmers market, not many stalls today. Did all the banking and then a wander round the shops.
Home now, quick catch up with a cup of tea, before work.

Long time since we were in Dumfries, the riverside area used to be interesting, with its Robert Burns connections, hope you did some sight-seeing too, otherwise that was a very long way to go just for shopping and fuel!
Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas have some very nice small, traditional shops, plus the Co-op if I remember correctly. Whithorn is interesting too.

Right mission accomplished but it had to be 25% in resizing to get under 500kb.
Just enjoying a fresh from the garden peppermint tea, which has cooled considerably whilst I've been posting a photo. I got up to make the tea before I chucked my phone in the corner 😲😲.
I now need to start cleaning my house properly it's only had bare minimum recently but we have folks over tomorrow so that's my incentive.
We have booked 2 sites both courtesy of CT for our next trip couple of nights on the Norfolk coast to meet son partner and dog then onto Lincoln site I think Bolero Boy linked to at Hartsholme, be good to explore Lincoln as we never have before. We then need to go across country as I want to visit Liverpool have priced Southport and am open to suggestions 😉 as we'd like to be there for several days to do Liverpool properly plus Formby and Southport without breaking the bank. We would prefer to be close to transport but as happy to walk. I will start a thread for suggestions very soon. Then we'll go to Lytham and area to visit my uncle but we have sites in mind for that and Lancaster.

We really liked Lincoln Bakers2, went for the first time last year.
Well done with photos, it's a bit time consuming.

Ha ha, that is so like us Bakers! We ad family round, so I did a big clean up! Love the rose, seems to be a really good year for roses so far. I have just taken a few photos in our garden, hope this picture is reduced enough to post!

We like Lincoln as well, can recommend Skybarn Farm CL. Doddington Hall is well worth a visit if it is open when you go. There is a nice Country Park on the outskirts as well, good for walks and wildlife.

Kjel, Castle Douglas now has a Tesco superstore, I think Kircudbright has a small metro store so no need to travel too far afield. I presume the local shop in Garlieston is still there for a few things?
Here's a pic from our last visit to lovely Whithorn.
