Been busy couple of days just catching up on here.
We had a funeral in Leicester on Tuesday which went very well. It was a real celebration of her 102 years. By coincidence the crematoria was also 102, so many teachers in the family you can be certain someone will have done the homework! Although in this instance it wasn't one of the immediate family 😉. The sun shone all day and it was great to catch up with 'far flung' (they're very local compared to where our daughter lives!!) But busy lives mean the only thing that galvanises everyone is a fixed date, on that basis we are aiming to allocate a day and meeting place about half way between london/Essex and Leicester nice hotel or similar - suggestions welcome 😉 so we're not all soberly dressed!
Had a bonus hour with our son in Peterborough on the way home to drop of dog crate he forgot to take home last weekend for new puppy coming to his other half's parents in a week or so. This also meant we missed a big hold up on the A14 following an accident. All in all we had a lovely drive to and from Leicester, making our down to Peterborough we had very pretty scenery too, our countryside looks splendid.
Glad everyone who's away seem to be having a good time, glad things have picked up for you KjellNN.
Another active day here can't work out how to find time to apply for a job let alone attend 😉.

Similarly beautiful here in Essex this morning. You're right about things growing they seem to have extra vigor after the very dry earlier spring and seem to have decided to make up for that now they have had some moisture. The ground seems to have welcomed the recent rain and made the bloom displays extra vibrant.

Glad the funeral went well Bakers2. It's always good the catch up with family. We made similar plans for a meet up after my Aunt's funeral last Friday. I just hope they come to fruition. Glad you missed the hold up on the A14. Major roadworks on there at the moment.
. Are garden is also getting very lush after the recent rain. The roses are absolutely gorgeous this year.0 -
Lovely day here in Cirencester, so off for a walk to the Tunnel Inn for lunch. It's about 4 miles back towards Tetbury. Only a couple of hundred metres on the pavement alongside the main road, then off on to the Monarchs way, which runs through the rugby pitches in front of the agricultural college and on through the countryside and tow path of the disused Thames and Severn Canal. The inn is so named as the canal enters a tunnel at this point. Then after a very nice snack and pint, a gentle walk back on some different paths.Thunderstorms were mentioned for tomorrow, so making the most of today.

I've been planning a major investment - a new computer. Ours is seven years old and more or less going strong, but I knew there were issues (noise, slowness etc).
It was state of the art when I bought i (HP desktop) and I don't want any less spec.Looking online I couldn't see what I wanted so I rang a local firm. A very pleasant and understanding engineer came out this morning and discussed with me the best way forward. As it could cost £400 to fix the old one, I've taken the plunge and ordered one built to my specifications.
Hopefully the changeover will be painless, if not cheap.

Hi Kj, nice to hear from you. We are currently at Lake Geneva we've had 3 lovely weeks of hot sunshine but last night the heavens opened and we had a spectacular thunderstorm, rained for a couple of hours but dry today. The clouds are low over the mountains and the temp has dropped a few degrees, the breeze is a little cooler now and the sun has come out.
The sites we've been on have not been busy at all, not empty but not full either. The site at Lake Annecy was the busiest but it was a public holiday weekend as is this weekend. The cycling isn't that good from this site as we are quite high up and there are no cycle paths. We tried last evening and did manage to get down to the lake, the cycle back uphill wasn't bad with the electric bikes but the road was not a pleasant place to cycle on. Think it will be the trike we will be using to get around on from here.
We are starting to head back up into Luxembourg after this weekend but it will be a slow journey as we are planning to stop off at a few places on the way, by the time we get to Luxembourg the German holiday will be over and the sites should be quiet there once again this one is nice and quiet at the moment although it is at least 50% full. Safe journey back I hope you find a nicer site tonight.

Very Busy, sitting here listening to the One Day Cricket and SULKING 'cos some { Deleted User <==================> Deleted User } has pinched my wheel trims
-- they even placed the black plastic Zip - ties in a neat pile !! So at least I can clean the motor completely now ! !I'm off for lunch now, but I'll probably cause the milk in my coffee to curdle just by opening the fridge grrrrrrrrr

There are some very bad people about ABM, I hope they are not too expensive to replace.

You should keep calm and wind them up. Last one I got I told the guy that I didn't have a computer and he must be mistaken, kept him on the line for 10 minutes and he was actually shouting at me and very angry, he finally terminated the call when I told him I couldn't remember what he had called about.

Thanks, now at a blissfully quiet site north west of Ulm, Waldpark Hohenstadt, quite a few vans here but still plenty of space. ACSI pitches are a bit of a hike from the shower block, but there is water and what looks like a drain next to the pitch, so we can use our own shower. Cannot call it properly serviced as it is shared with the next pitch, so we cannot connect up.
Weather still hot and sunny.
Sounds like you are having a good trip!
Several years since we were last at Annecy, Lake Geneva sounds nice too, perhaps that would be a good destination for next year. Just a pity the French are often a bit odd when it comes to twin axle vans.
Luxembourg is one of our favourite stop-overs when we are in the area.
Are you stopping off anywhere in UK on the way home?

Apologies for jumping into the canal conversation (nice thought on such a hot day...
) but yes they are restoring it, very slowly. One of our daughters volunteered for a couple of years, she enjoyed doing it but found sharing village hall sleeping accommodation with a lot of retired males a bit off putting, I think she bought a pop up tent to get some privacy but couldn't escape some of the noise.
Sorry to hear ABM has lost the wheel trims. we parked up in Devon once and all our Landrover badges vanished to "a collector." As for cricket I've just had a go on the Google Doodle today, I'm not very good.

I know what Triky means about vegetation growth. I took two hippo bags worth to the tip yesterday and after an abortive trip to an LPG supplier who no longer supplies, I spent this morning trundling round garages until I found one where I could put some gas into my new Safefill cylinder. It was a few doors down from a MH emporium so I had a quick browse there. A rather nice Rapido A Class but too heavy for me and too long for the drive.

In our youth we spent a fair amount of time helping on the Kennet and Avon Canal. See picture below. Margaret in woolly hat and glasses at back of pictures, me taking the picture. We actually baked potatoes in that bonfire!!! We never stayed overnight.50 years ago this year we started the Southampton Canal Society as a local group for enthusiasts and we had to travel as we did not really have a canal of our own.

David, the bit by the Tunnel entrance has undergone a bit of work. At one time there was a notice about boat trips to veiw the Tunnel to help raise money. These seem to have disappeared, I don't think there is enough water in it at the moment. Looking at the state of the small section we walk along, the cost of getting it into a useable condition, even with volunteer labour, would be massive. I like your photo, much of the canal is totally overgrown, just like it.
