As it's English wine week, which runs from 27 May to 4th June, I was wondering if anyone had visited a wine estate, or sampled a good British wine, and could recommend a Club or CL Site nearby to visit to bring back a bottle of wine to sample and enjoy once back on the site.

I can recommend the Bolney Wine Estate, with the nearest Club Site being Brighton Club Site, Gatwick Club Site or Slinfold Club Site and a few CL Sites in the area including Birch Trees Farm, Bridge Farm HouseCopperfield Farm and Great Bentley Farm to name but a few (search by map to find more CL sites in the area). It's a bit too far from the sites to be able to enjoy a wine tasting but you could always visit for a tour or get the bus! The buses for Bolney are the 86, 89 and 273, and timetables and routes can be found on the Metrobus website.

Setley Ridge CL in the New Forest is actually a vineyard and the pitches overlook the vines.

Camel Valley Vineyard in Cornwall makes expensive look-alike, taste-alike Champagne - and if you don't mind visiting a private site, the Laurels Holiday Park near Wadebridge is highly thought of by many people -  though too formal for my taste - and it's about a 15 minute drive from the vineyard.

We first went to the Three Choirs vineyard in 1999 while we were staying at the Moorhampton site, and have been wine off them (online) ever since. It's 25% off at the moment. Who could resist?

tongue-out , Just outside Tenterden in Kent on the road to Rye,is the Tenterden vinyard ,good restaurant too.

Also in the area at the other side of Biddenden sits a unique Cider producer.

The Isle of Wight has vinyards too.

All the above are very close to site's or C.Ls.

Maybe no one realises that we now grow wine grapes and produce a very drinkable wine, in Yorkshire - at Leventhorpe Vineyard, near Temple Newsam in Leeds.  If the owner is around you can have a tour and a tasting - and you can buy wine most days in the shop - though phone to check first.  Whilst in the area you can visit Temple Newsam house, grounds, and other attractions.

Knaresborough and York would be the nearest Caravan Club sites, but I'm sure there must be lots of CL's in the area.

Do go - it's worth a visit, and the wine is pretty good too.

The Sharpham Vineyard on the Dart in Devon (they also produce cheese.) The nearest sites would be Steamer Quay, Ramslade, Hillhead or Start Bay plus plenty of CLs.

When we went to the Three Choirs they let us stay overnight on the car park, we did stay for an evening meal and sample the wines mind!

Also enjoyed Setley Ridge in the New Forrest, some of the pitches were amongst the vines, loved their rosé and the farm shop!

We've booked to go to the Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery near Henley-on-Thames.  The Club temporary site for the Henley Regatta will be our base.

A few years ago we enjoyed a day out (Christmas present voucher) at Old Walls Vineyard at Bishopsteignton overlooking the Teign estuary in Devon. It was a very pleasant day out with lunch included. The nearest club site would be Exeter Racecourse.
