I think you will like Petworth Malcolm. We visited from the Gatwick site just before this trip to France. Mainly to look at the Sky landscape artist of the year exhibit. However, the house and grounds are exceptional and the Turners stunning. In fact they have so many great paintings they even hide the odd Gainsborough in a corner.
Visited Arromanche today, bright and sunny so had lunch by the beach. Then watched a film about the D day landings in a new 360 degree cinema they have built. It used actual footage shot at the time, and the sound of the barrage before the landing was mind blowing. I'm sure that hill back up from the beach was steeper than last time we went.☹️ Then on to the American Cemetery at Omaha beach. They have also recently added an exhibition centre. Which, after you have gone through airport style security, was first class. Telling the whole story of the build up to D day and right through to the break out and liberation of Paris.

Last day in Italy today, tomorrow we are making a long hop to southern Austria, about 260 miles in total, so an early start needed.
Going to a site recommended by DianeTT, it sounds lovely, and only 15 euros. Will stay there about 5-6 nights as lots to see.
Now half way through our holiday as we are home on 2nd July.

Have a great holiday brue.
Hope your eyes are now OK David.
We are now back from our trip to the Norfolk Broads and unfortunately learnt that there were 2 more deaths while we were away. As well as my aunt Mr H's cousin died a few days ago after a very short illness and a friend I used to work with died suddenly at the beginning if the week. I hope that is it for now.
When we arrived back in Peterborough this afternoon we found that there had been a lot more rain here than in Norfolk. The caravan storage place was very wet and muddy and when we were trying to get the caravan back on it's pitch we got stuck in the mud. Luckily it is owned and run by the caravan dealer Pioneer Caravans so their lovely guys and their tractor helped us out.

Went down to London today, well Kingston upon Thames, for my eldest son's 40th birthday lunch at a very nice Tapas restaurant. Nice cake as well!!!

Finally caught up with events on here tonight. Sounds as if most folk away are having a good time.
Kj glad to hear that OH much better now and that the Alde is sorted, interesting that you say the sites are busy over your way. I think every site we have been on, on this trip have been less than half full. We have hardly seen any Brits on our travels, just the odd one or two. The main ones this time are the French, with the usual Dutch and German.
Sites very quiet even down on the coast. We arrived at one site which had been recommended, at 12:15, it was closed for lunch until 14:00 so we had a look around but decided to push on to another site I'd fancied, glad we did it was much nicer than the one closed for lunch. We've found a couple of sites that we really liked and have marked them for future.
A big thanks to DSB for his recommendation of visiting Provence, we've been here almost a week now and really like it.
Weather here is good nice blue skies and warm, its been 28c for a few days but today was a little cooler with a strong breeze.

We enjoyed our visit to Petworth. It was just over half an hours drive from Worthing through lovely countryside. We walked around the gardens first and up the hill to the Ionic Rotunda where there were magnificent views of the landscape.
Like you say, SteveL, there were a huge number of paintings and sculptures in every room. Much more of the house was open than when we visited last year. We also walked through the park up to the lake before returning.

Treated myself to a couple of extra hours in bed this morning. ...Bliss
Got all jobs and shopping done yesterday, then went to a local soap box derby, unfortunately it poured down, such a shame came home and the sun came out!!
Eldest son has been sending me lots of pictures from the Isle of Wight he is revisiting the island to show his girlfriend where we lived, it's not changed much He visited the pub we used to run, that's not change much either, furniture and carpets still the same ones, even bar staff were the same apparently!
Not much planned for today, hoping the sunshine lasts and can sit out in the garden

I just got my rota for next week. Another day off tomorrow and just Tuesday and Wednesday evening to work. Then no more work until I get back from holiday.
Our existing National Trust membership cards expire on 31st May and we haven't yet received the new ones. So I sent an email to them to ask when I can receive them. They will need to arrive before we leave for holiday in four days time.

We went to Tesco pfs to refuel the Smart car which cost £25.03 for which I earned 25 points plus 6 bonus points for using the Tesco credit card.
We plan to visit WWT this afternoon. I think the goslings and ducklings will have grown since our last visit. We haven't seen any cygnets though this year.

"An individual senior member will pay £48.60 this year, compared to £64.80 for a single adult membership. Joint senior members will pay £80.40, compared to £108 for joint adult membership"
I think you only have to have been a continuous member for 5 years out of the last 10 to benefit
Also think you have to ask for it, they don't just give it to you

They have already collected the annual premium for joint NT membership by direct debit of £108 on 8th May 2017. We have been members for two years.

A lovely Day in Calvados country, about 22C this afternoon. Visited the Pointe du Hoc, looked after by the American Battle Monuments Commission. Who have produced a very good app for smart phones, to guide you round the site and inform you of the history. The Rangers assault on the cliffs and fortifications was depicted in the movie The Longest Day.
Just along the coast at Grandcamo-Maisy was a rather spectacular statue to world peace.

I am not sure that will work in Scotland JVB (where M is going). Although you can use your English cards, they may not have access to the data base.
I hope your dealings with NT admin are better than ours. We have always found them very poor indeed, and taking ages to respond.

Nice to hear from youTammy. It sounds like you are having a lovely time.

Same here Steve. We have had some unfortunate dealings with them over the years. Efficiency isn't a word they seem to understand.

We've had a slightly disorganised last day here in the White Rose county!
Forecast was good so we decided to drive down to Cracoe and walk up to Cracoe Pinnacle and Rylstone Cross where, apparently, there are fantastic 360° views. Only to discover after half an hour's walking a sign saying "no dogs on Garden Moor".
Never mind, where we parked was the start of a 3 mile bridleway to Linton, we'll do that instead - only to discover it seemed to disappear at the edge of a huge quarrey.
So, stop for a coffee an old barn high up on the hillside and regroup!
We were right on the edge of 2 OS maps and didn't bring the one we needed with us ( guess who got the blame for that! )
So it was back to the van for a bite of lunch and then luckily we found a very nice walk up on Threshfield Moor above the site which sort of saved the day!
I've just got the awning down, ready for tomorrow's move to Chatsworth for 4 nights, using our final 2 site night vouchers!

When you see the cliffs that the Rangers had to climb, it makes you wonder how they even got up there, never mind with people shooting at them all the while!
That said, looking at the size of some of the bomb craters at the top, I doubt that the Germans had such a good time either.

More or less what I put in the WhatsApp's I sent to my two lads. Absolutely staggering.
