Croatia, get there while you can

We have been coming to Croatia for the past few years and the pace of development is incredible. I know that it isn't adventurous but we like our site at Rovinj, it has everything we need, sun,sea and countryside, we just return each year. Over the past few years all the hotels and campsites around the town have redeveloped at a cost of millions of euros, if this is repeated across the country it will begin to look like Spain.

Nothing much wrong with Spain as a holiday destination. Even Benidorm has some pleasant areas of town.

I will hopefully be making a return trip to Croatia next year so I will be able to compare with my last motorhome trip in 2006.

The good news is that development on the islands is far less prevalent and likley to remain so as the season is just too short to justify it and to be fair to the Croatians development controls are quite strict.  Still very easy to find traditional Croatia on the Dalmatian Islands for example. The issue that Istria has is that it is the closest nice bit of coast with a good climate to a huge chunk of central Europe.
