    You rebel Jayess! 😂 😂

I used to like the idea of a flag pole, but my wife wouldn't allow it.  She said I could have a Cadac instead - I've not looked back since.

I don't mind other people putting them up providing they are very secure and there is no danger of my 'van coming to any harm.  These days, though, I couldn't really be bothered putting one up.  Extra work and extra carriage.

..........I'll stick with my Cadac and a pint of beer!!

    Once a rebel...

but seriously if anyone 'challenged' me over something that wasn't breaking a site rule then they could challenge away. What are they going to do? Run to the warden like a primary school kid? surprised

I wouldn't be hiding in my van till the cross man had gone either. I might not be out but it would be because I don't get up early when I'm on holiday. If I was up I'd be more than happy to continue the discussion until they jogged on

Our next door neighbour had one up on his pitch in Spain. The pole was on his pitch, but the flag was over our caravan. Initially he took it down a couple of times because of the high wind at night, but after a few days he seemed to just forget about it. The constant flapping noise was irritating me and I asked him to move it to the other side of his pitch so that the flapping was over his own motor caravan, but he ignored this request too. When the flapping noise woke me at about 3 am one morning I'd had enough. I went round and took his flag down and chucked it on the ground. He put it straight back up the following day. I told the site manager about it and the flag was taken down and stayed down. These things are a selfish and in my view silly form of entertainment similar in their level of annoyance to radio and tv noise.

Ah ha!  My question is answered. They do run to the warden like a primary school kid.

<makes note to ensure flag is packed for next trip>

Rather rich that final paragraph, Micky......given your wholehearted support for people who leave site late without paying, which impacts greatly on new arrivals who have paid.

Anyway, surely if these flags are allowed (with warden's discretion) then you have no right to complain about them? wink

It takes more than a flag on a pole to titillate I'm afraid. wink

I haven't bothered with mine on site so far. I've been parked next to folk with them and it's been less disturbing than other things that other site users do. However I do think that some of the posters on your thread have brought out the naughty side of me.

I've read some of the replies to friends who have laughed heartily and asked if they are typical club members.

Good for you Jayess, at least you can see there are two sides to the discussion. From dogs barking, to BBQ smoke across adjacent pitch, to TV too loud, to walking across another's pitch we are all different as  far as to our 'standards' of behaviour are concerned. It's about time we all considered those around us before we make our own judgements about what we do. For me I ask myself if my behaviour is likely to cause concern to others! If yes, there will be a distinct possibility I will choose not to do so and upset others. These flags and light do cause some concerns for some folk, at least you accept that and have had a hearty laugh about it!

Now that's interesting, only twice in 30 odd years have I followed the rules precisely and correctly and been granted that slightly later departure, And only then when those that know best have decreed it possible due to site specific circumstances.

I also reckon that pleasure is in the eyes of the beholder, one man's pleasure is another man's torture. What needs to be decided is what pleasures are agreeable to the majority I guess. I do however realise that for some there is a very real need to pinpoint their pitch.

Just come back from 5 nights at Salisbury Hillside site. When out walking the dogs late evening I had to laugh at this.

Yes, they are Christmas lights fixed to the under side and chassis embarassed

Our club sites should try and uphold a respectability to each other’s relaxation and ban these poles and flags.

enter: Chavy caravan light poles into Google and look at images, even the internet knows what they are referring to :))))

Yes, I understand that some my like them and that apparently, if you let your children out that are old enough to go out playing without supervision that they may not be able to find the way back to their caravan without a 20ft high flashing neon beacon (maybe they should not be out on their own???), but incredible to see that for 60-70 years prior and without smart phones that all children found their way back without issues. Hmmm

Indeed, perhaps they should ban the Onesie, they are certainly more disturbing than flags.😂

Don't mind the lights in fact I quite lie them.

I hate the flags and kites though. I'm not good with noise, so things like that or wind chimes, loud TVs, people talking on mobiles loudly, all affect me.

Its alright folk saying don't pay any attention to it, just ignore it. It doesn't work like that I'm afraid.
