The light on our cassette toilet didn't show the toilet was full, it's overflowed slightly into the cassette holder, we can see wires are in this area etc and wondering how to empty the actual compartment and clean it. Many thanks

Rubber gloves and paper towels, I guess. cool

We learned many years ago not to rely on the full light and now use our own judgement.

yes been there done that. Paper towels and/or anti bacterial wetwipes.

PS  change the battery on the toilet while you're there. The old may have died and that's why you didn't get the red light. Or the float has jammed/broke inside the toilet

The float inside your cassette, which activates the light switch, may have become detached. It's a common defect caused by over-vigorous sloshing about when emptying!

Further to chasncath's comment - or if the light is not working it may be the pico switch not working;  this is the green circuit board behind the cassette,  it is easy to replace (a simple plug in job ) and inexpensive.  Also, saves having to feel around inside the cassettemoney-mouth.  To test, put a magnet across the board near the brown/red bit - this is the switch, if the red light comes on the switch is ok, if no red light new switch needed.  (Been there done it and I'm not technical!)

Re cleaning, Tim's said it all!

Our light hasn't worked in the 10 years we've had the caravan.

If it's full (pretty obvious really) then I empty it.

In this case, I agree it's a job for the paper towels (wet wipes block drains).

i just replied to 'this thread' with basically the same stuff, as there appeared to be no replies.....i couldnt see the six replies above, this is because 'my reply' seems to be connected to an identical OP in a section called 'hidden'....

there are many other posts in that section, possibly duplicates moved by mods? very odd.

I'd say rubber gloves and toilet tissue not paper towels or wet wipes for flushing away. If you have to use wet wipes to finish off and freshen up or even paper towels put in a bag and tie up when finished before putting in the general rubbish.

I can almost hear the delight of those who only allow liquids 😲

This was one of the double plus threads that appear sometimes. Maybe if we notice we should mark one as such and ask for replies on the other one. Similar to a mod closing but without the ability to stop further posts. I did wonder about it when they appeared but I'm no tech on IT so didn't.

if i go i to the Discussions page and i see the Thetford thread as the most recent in Caravan and Motorhome Chat and touch that link, i get taken to the (same titled) thread in Hidden.

if i open up the Chat section and click the link, i come to this thread....undecided

I had that problem several times and I am led to understand that Thetford are considering a better design of locker very sorely needed! My problem was that the cassette had split in two! I found kitchen paper and disinfectant worked but it's an awful job made much worse by shocking design!  Paper towels binned not flushed too much t paper would have used the whole roll!  I had travelled not knowing mine was leaking, more than once before I found out despite dealer telling me I must have left the blade open.   Hmmnot sure that would have ended up in the locker?

This thread has suddenly got more replies sorry if I repeat!  Also don't bother with the warning light anymore it was too unreliable.
