Overnight Stop near Beauvais
Hi, Newly returned to caravanning and am heading for the Dordogne in June. I'm looking for an overnight stop between Calais and Paris, about 1 1/2 hours from Eurotunnel. Any ideas please? Thanks

Go 'the other way' (ie via Rouen instead of Paris, and Camping Ste Claire at Neufchatel en Bray is your best bet and around the right distance from Eurotunnel.
For years we've done our best to avoid Paris, particularly the 'western' route, because we met hold-ups and absolutely standstill traffic on the last few occasions we tried it.
We use Calais, Abbeville, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Orleans, and usually have an overnight stop a bit further south, so that we can get to the Dordogne at a reasonable time the following day.

But if you really do want to use the motorway via Paris then Camping de la Trye is about 6 miles from the Beauvais junction and is open all year round.

We never book but Camping Ste Claire is the only site we have ever turned up at in June and took the last available pitch at 3.15 so I would recommend booking. Great site.

Apologies for jumping in on this post but do you have any recommendations for sites in the Dordogne please Val (or anyone else) ?. We're planning on spending a few days there in late September on our way home from Italy.

It all depends what sort of site you like, Dave. Some people want an indoor swimming pool, some want to be on the river bank, some want an on site restaurant, some want to be able to walk into a village, and some will only go to sites on the ACSI discount list.
My own choice would be a smallish site like Domaine de Matthevies, but that one closes on 23 September and you may have to watch closing dates for other smaller ones.

Many thanks Eurotraveller. A site within walking or cycling distance of a village would suit us best. A pool, restaurant and ACSI are not important to us. I'll keep the 'early' closing dates in mind.

Fifty miles up river from Sarlat, which may be more than you want, is Les Iles at Beaulieu sur Dordogne which is right on the river and a two minute walk into the old attractive town.

Camping Le Pigeonnier at Tursac is another one in the heart of a village
