Would like any suggestions of sites in north wales. We have a motorhome and like to use bikes, or local transport or walk ( but not too far or up too high on account of bad knees). We are hoping to go late June.

Some really good Cls in Dolgellau  Area. You can use the Mawddach trail for walking or biking as shown in Bradburys Railway Walks

Lots of sites, CLs included, in and around Abersoch on the Llyn peninsula - a beautiful but not too hilly part of the world, with some nice beaches, coves, and village pubs.

Trouble with Abersoch, in the summer at least is it very very busy.  It's where the Cheshire county set decamp to.  There are lots of CLs and commercial sites on the Llean peninsula.  For gentle biking the Mawddach trail looks good and flat.  Loads of sites on Anglesey as well so that's worth a look.  Quite a big place n Wales depends what you are looking for.

The other Club's site at Llanystumdwy, on the Llŷn might appeal. We find it  a perfect base for a motorhome trip because of ease of access to public transport.

A bus stop outside the gate will get you further out on the Peninsula  and, in the other direction, to Criccieth and Porthmadog, where you have choice of 3 Heritage Railways, 2 of which get you into the heart of Snowdonia.  Beddgelert, one of the stations on the Welsh Highland Railway,  is an attractive village; Caernarfon with its tremendous castle is at the end of that line. From Blaenau Ffestiniog, at the end of the Ffestiniog Railway,  a mainline train service takes you to Betws-y-coed, a pretty riverside resort.

A mainline train service runs along the coast as far as Pwllheli and, in the other direction, the service stops at Minfordd for Portmeirion.

The coast road offers relatively flat cycling. And there is easy access to the Wales Coastal Path - take a bus out from the village and walk back to the site along the coast.

Don't expect the Cls to be cheap, Off season the commercials are a better option. Overbooking is also an issue. ie more than 5 units particuarly in the school holidays.

Here's the Mawddach cycle route, there are some CLs in the area, also cycling in the nearby forest with various ability levels at Coed y Brenin.

Check out the little video clip on the link, it gives you a good idea of how pleasant this route is, I've only walked bits of it, should have taken my bike. wink

Thank you very much for all the above contributions. Very useful and helpful. I am really pleased with the info folk have given me. Hopefully we will be able to visit sometime late June early July. Then hopefully off to the Netherlands in September.

Have a look at Llanberis Touring Park. A great site an easy walk from Llanberis itself.
