Going to be busy in UK this year
I have been reading an article this morning that is saying in bound holiday bookings to the UK are up 21% on last year which was a record ,
A Survey of 10,000 people from overseas noted that 63% were looking to come here,
And 30% of UK who normally go overseas are having "Staycations" this year

I'll enjoy even quieter roads and Aires over there.
And hopefully the foreign caravanners and m/homers on U.K. sites will have a good time and not suffer any reverse hilarity

I suppose the value of sterling cuts both ways. Cheaper for people to come here but more expensive for us to go there. I think sterling would have to fall a lot more for it to be an influence on whether we went abroad.

Had to laugh when I read your post. The favourite programme of an ex tank driving German, who we became friendly with, was Midsomer Murders (only English he knew was "High Society" and "Hoi-Poloi"). That'll get you a long way in Barnsley! He also adored "House in the Country", thinking we all have beautiful gardens. A common pre conception amongst many Germans.

the other vans were spread around the estate....a bit like the Sandringham site but with an acre or two each
far too cramped on CC sites for us...

I suppose its all down to the strength of the pound against the Euro. Europe is now expensive for us and cheap for t5hye Europeans.
Frankly the Scottish elections in early May are local councils and will not be trouble. There are some nationalists who do not understand other peoples views, but I cannot see them being a problem at the general election so no reason not to come. Even the referendum passed off with very little trouble and anyone finding it was very unlucky. At our poling station the Yes and No sides were so busy talking to each other they were ignoring the voters.

Whilst the 'strength' of the Euro will no doubt have some attraction it's still worth only 84/85p as it has been for some time. It'll have no impact on my thoughts of going abroad until it reaches parity or greater. As a m/homer one of my largest expenses is the ferry (paid in Sterling) and diesel which is significantly cheaper in mainland Europe. Camp sites, especially the Municipals, are first rate and generally less expensive than U.K., and France welcomes m/h visitors with the thousands of inexpensive Aires.
In any case, roaming around Europe is what I want to do; there are no pockets in shrouds.
