After meeting my first CT member the other day ,it got me thinking ,if you could ,which CT member would you like to meet, ( this could be interesting)
P.S, probably in the wrong section ,but didn't know where to post it

"Can of worms"
Not in my experience, I joined my classic car club 9 years ago. I have met many people in person after making initial contact on the clubs forum. We have met at car shows, regional events, National Day's, been to BBQ's at their homes etc. We have even taken our cars abroad together in small groups, and toured the Lake district one year over the period of a week.
We can now call some of them very close friends, in fact we are hosting a BBQ this Sunday as one members is over from Canada and another couple from Tenerife. We also have some more local members coming. We are all in regular email/FB contact. I also have friends (initially met through the forum) in the Cotswolds, Sussex, Surrey, Devon, Kent and Norfolk and Suffolk. Were taking the caravan to Henley in July to meet up with some of them and Devon in August to meet up with some others.
My car clubs moto is "A very Social Club" Seems true to me
The C&MH club is much the same as my car club. lots of different people from all walks of life but with a common interest & hobby.
Ian.

It seems quite a few things posted on here open a can of worms
Re my 1st post, some of us have small discrete windscreen stickers on our cars with the club logo on and forum name. If out and about it gives you the chance to introduce yourself (if you wish to). seems to work.

You could always try organising a Club Together meet to see what response you get. Apart from other mods I have met several people that contribute to Club Together. Some of those were at one of the regional meetings held by the Club.

We've met some lovely people from Club Together!!
On one occasion my OH and another chap were talking over the washing up. My OH must have said something which was recognised, as part of some advice I had offered in return to a question on here from his wife. He asked 'Are you Mr ValDa............' David said 'Yes' and a few minutes later they walked around and introduced themselves.
We chatted, had a glass of wine with them, and then a meal in their caravan and got on really well. Unfortunately she no longer contributes to CT (put off in the early days by the usual suspects) but we still keep in touch and may meet up with them again this year whilst on holiday in France.

Unfortunately people say things on this forum which they would not dare to say face to face. Same for all social media and maybe I am just as culpable. So, if you ever plan to bump into a fellow CT poster, take care about what you say on the forum!
Funny how people always look totally different to the unconscious picture that you have built up.

We've met up with a few members from CT, Kjellin & Millerman we met on the ferry and had a drink with them. While on Ill de Re we met up with BB and his wife. Plans to met up with AD failed last year due to my OH falling ill so we never got to Portugal.
I love meeting up with members and like minded people, one day you never know it could be you, you have been warned we will be at Englethwaite hall this Saturday so if anyone from here is going to be there, pop in and say hello.

I would have no objections to meeting fellow contributors, however nor would I deliberately go out of my way to do so. If it hapens it happens.

yes, weve met a few from CT, as TG says, and some might be more local than you think....
there are a few Somerset based CT ers, i shall be meeting up with one (and his wife) again later next month, looking forward to it.
met (at least) two others in south of france in 2015, already done a trip this year with one and will be meeting up again in Sept....in the sun.
im sure we are all lovely people and a glass and a chat is a great way to get to know the real folk...

I have only met one other CTer and that wasn't on a CAMC site. He has a distinctive van so I just had to ask if it was who I thought it was. I chat to to folk all the time but, of the few I have asked about CT, I usually get a shrug of the shoulders. I must add though that I don't frequent CAMC sites that often although Monday will be my fourth visit to the Ashridge Farm this year.

We've met maybe a dozen or so other CTers in various places, but only a couple actually on club sites. Very often when we chat to members on site they are either unaware of CT or just not interested in it. I used to mention in UK Sites & Touring if we were staying on a club site but rarely had any response - it's either me or the dogs they don't like the look of! (Can't believe it's the dogs!! )

We too have met quite a few CT members, but only a few on club sites. Perhaps that's because we usually stay on CLs and there are, by their very nature, only a few CC members on them so the chance of meeting other CT members is fairly slim, there being less than 1% of members who are CT posters.

I've met three CTers on club sites.
