A Speed camera warning for people using Caen
WARNING - Anyone using the Portsmouth - Caen crossing, and then the Caen Peripherique direction Paris/Le Mans. There is a 70 km/h camera that 'flashed' me just after joining the Peripherique. Never had a speeding ticket in my life after 50yrs, but looks like I may be getting one soon!
I assumed the Peripherique was 90 km/h, and never saw the sign for 70.
After checking Google streetview today, I see that the camera is literally less than 100m after joining the dual carrigeway, and the 70 kmh warning sign is towards the very end of the slip road, where most drivers are checking their LH mirrors for traffic, before joining the inside lane.
As we (the government) are commited to passing details across to France from early May 2017, and my offence took place on April 23rd, I'm expectoing to be one of the first - please don't be the second!

I wouldn't worry too much Lagerorwine. At the moment there is no cross border enforcement for EU countries to be able to follow up UK motorists caught on speed cameras. BUT, the rules change on 6th May and after that date any UK motorists caught speeding will get a ticket through the post. As your 'transgression' happened before that date it ought not to apply and if they do try and chase you I feel sure you have good grounds to appeal.
