Vets in Switzerland and Pet Passport
Looking at the DEFRA website it seems that a Swiss vet can administer a tapeworm treatment and sign a UK issued Pet Passport. But just wondering if anyone has actually done this, and can confirm that it causes no problems when coming back into the UK through the tunnel.

Why the concern with Switzerland? If they are signed up to the process I cannot see why there would be a problem. If unsure then you can either get the treatment en route back to Blighty and/or print off the DEFRA info before you travel. In my experience each time we travel the pet passport checks are more and more cursory.

I would have thought that my concern was pretty obvious, I don't want to turn up at Calais to be told a Swiss vet's stamp in the passport is invalid.
I raised the query simply because I shall be visiting relatives there for a few days and it would a lot more convenient to use their local family vet than hunt one out in France on the way back.
As I said in the original post, from the DEFRA website it would appear to be OK, but to be sure I was merely asking anyone else who had used a Swiis vet what their experience was.
Oh, and when I came back through the tunnel last year I thought the check was actually quite thorough.

As long as you are within the time frame and the vet has the status to do it I don't see why not. I am sure other people have used vets other than French ones.
I don't agree with cursory they check pretty thoroughly in my experience. My return was delayed last year and I had to get a second check done a few days after! I hope I didn't look as tense as I felt as the nice vet hadn't rewormed the dogs stating it would be bad for them! But the stamp was in order!
