Reversed Polarity

Please could someone remind me?  I arrived on an ACSI site yesterday and set up then Monsieur arrived and asked if I had reverse polarity so I asked him how I would know!  Giving what I describe as a French Shrug he said if it works you are OK.  Well it does work, plugged straight in as per normal in the UK (no adaptor needed). Question is, is all safe or should I be doing something?  I connected 24 hours ago so kind of assuming it's ok!  Thank you!

As usual with this topic there is ill informed advice.  It is a subject that has been covered in depth many times before but, regrettably, also with sometimes incorrect information posted by unqualified people so it is probably best just to take the Club's advice which you can find in technical leaflets.

Rather than repeat everything that I have said before (and be criticised for being an "expert" and trying to help) I would just like to correct a couple of things.  Firstly, French and continental wiring systems are totally different to the UK and polarity is irrelevant.  It is only the UK that has the possible problem of reverse polarity. Secondly, it is true that lack of an earth is bad on a caravan site (but not necessarily in a bedroom at home, for example) it is only the external parts of the caravan and hook-up that are at risk; inside the caravan you are protected by the RCD.

Something has gone wrong with this thread and a number of comments seem to keep disappearing.  Apologies therefore if my remarks seem out of context.
