Barking dogs

It is all so depressingly familiar, dare complain about dogs for any reason and the dog lovers are out in force defending their mutts, usually combined with ( as in my case ) slagging off the person making the point, and as the original poster said, merely confirming their contempt for anyone raising it as an issue.
As an aside I wonder who exactly it is that dumps little black plastic bags all over the place that increasingly blight our countryside and beaches................or is that in my imagination as well ?

Whilst being new to this caravan tugging game I have yet to be annoyed by barking dogs. As a dog owner I may be biased but I certainly will not put up with my dog barking other than at someone approaching our van and then not for more than a few seconds. I think that if I was on a site where it was a problem then I would speak to a warden and expect them to do something about it.
We recently stayed at Sandringham where the wood pigeons were very intrusive, especially when marching across our roof but I didn't complain; maybe I should have.

We were at at Moorhampton over the Easter weekend. The site was pretty much full, there were several folk with dogs and a few families with young children. Neither caused us any problems at all.
However, we were kept awake most nights by the owls and woken up very early by the birds in the hedge behind us. Who should we complain to?

you should have been at Burrs country park the year before last when they had a Funfair in the park next to the site the noise from it was horrendous ,the noise the ghost train made when it cam back out was awful thankfully it not go on too late ,I was off work same week last year but daren't go to the site for too many days in case of the noise I did go but the Fair wasn't there when I mentioned it ti the warden he said there had been too many complaints about it the year before ,far worse noise than any dog barking

You could always complain to me about the completely natural sound of the wildlife which is beautiful, and I'll point out the difference between that and some mutt kicking off, or perhaps camping isn't for you if the bird song disturbs..................

Actually, we've been camping and caravanning for over 40 years now (and longer as children) and we love the countryside and the sound of wildlife, so I think I can confidently say that camping is very definitely for us.
I do get a bit cheesed of though by the regular depressing (often wildly exaggerated) moans about what other campers do and what they should be doing instead.
Camping/ caravanning involves staying in large public areas with fellow members of the public and anyone who is so intolerant as to complain about how others spend their time is, maybe less suited to that type of holiday!

Bird song is lovely - but bird sh1t is not!

I'm simply intolerant of irresponsible dog owners, and I'd be more persuaded all you folk are a paragon of virtue if just for once there was an admission that very many are not, evidenced as I said earlier about the growing blight of discarded poo bags......come and take a walk through our sand dunes anytime to see the evidence first hand, or perhaps it's those pesky birds disturbing the peace now taking to bagging it up and flinging it everywhere.....

Ekka, with respect, you haven't been on CT very long. So it's understandable that you won't be aware that, when the subject of dog noise and dog mess has been raised before, responsible dog owners (and yes, I regard myself as one of those) have been every bit as vociferous, if not more so, in condemning it. But, put bluntly, I have never experienced either as being major problems when we have stayed on sites, club or others. Indeed, it's certainly much more noticeable when we are at home.

What a one sided statement. Yes people have a right to raise a concern but equally those that are in the spotlight as it were, equally have the right to post their view.

I am intolerant of intolerance and those who lack humour.
What on earth has bags of dog poo on beaches or other public places got to do with dogs barking on club sites? I think you need to campaign elsewhere.
I'm not defending irresponsible behaviour here but, like Moulesy, I've been vanning for over 40 years and cannot remember any dog related incident of significance to back up your claim of barking etc on site.
There are definitely badly behaved owners out there but their appearance on club sites is rare.
Have you been a member of the club long, Ekka? Did you not realise dogs are welcome on club sites when you joined?
Edit: I see looking back at your earlier posts that you don't use club sites, Ekka. So how do you know if dogs are barking on site and why are you complaining about something you cannot know?

because he is Anti dog ,the mess left by folk winds him up so instead of complaining to the council he is on here taking it out on all us dog owners !!!!

come and take a walk through our sand dunes anytime to see the evidence first hand
I hope you campaign as hard to eradicate the rubbish littering the sand dunes from our human brethren after a hot, sunny day.
Obvious to all but the dumb is you will not get a reply from a dog owner that lets it crap everywhere, why on earth do you think an irresponsible pet owner would come on here and defend themselves. All posters replying are responsible owners who do not want to be associated with them and have no wish for the likes of you to tar us all with the same brush, hence the defence and awareness of our actions to be dissociated from them.I have never witnessed continuous dog barking , on a club site or a CL. What I have witnessed is barking short term, its what some do. You don't like it then find a site where dogs are not allowed, and stop being a pussy cat.

Well, that's number two off my list of moaning, whinging occasional seagull posters for this bank holiday! Only around seven more to go, then I shall have the full hand again!
What is it about Bank Holiday periods that brings out the moaners?

Read the post today by DaveFL2.
I do hate people who judge other people they know nothing about.......

Thousands, of not millions think it's OK, so much so that the issue has been raised in the House of Commons...............
And it's worth pointing out it was a dog owner that started this thread..............they said
8pm and can hardly hear the TV for the intolerable noise of barking dogs here at Burr country park. This is club etiquette? At least four big dogs in this corner of the site

Which has what to do with dogs barking on club sites?
I'm afraid, Ekka, that by failing to address the points put to you (for instance, those in my earlier post) and by wildly swinging from one anti dog topic to another, you have almost revealed your true motive in posting. I'm debating whether you are a dog hater or whether yours is a trolling activity.
Yes, there are irresponsible dog owners out there in the big wide world but why are you banging on about them here when it is clearly not dogs barking on club sites you have an issue with?

Ha! It may well have been, hadn't thought of that. Next time I shall sweep the roof before retiring.

Ear plugs anyone?

Having now read about the dogs on site topic for 4 years now, I note that there are the same folk saying they have not seen or heard any problems with the dreaded few owners, but the folk that raise the issue or comment do seem to be different this time around.
Tinwheeler makes a good point. what good is complaining on here.
I would suggest that the amount of heat generated by the discussion and usual insults that follow may discourage those that allow the behaviours witnessed to reconsider their pet management. We can but hope
