French holiday route advice

Hi we are taking our motorhome to France (first time) in June and would be grateful for advice in planning our return leg. Our last site is in Languedoc region, near Serignan Plage. We have allowed two nights stop overs on the way back to Cherbourg. If anyone has tips for a route and especially advice regarding the best way to split up the driving/stops that would be great.     The ViaMichelin website gives three suggested routes - each mostly motorway and with little to choose between them in terms of distance or prices. And if you are frugal you have the option of asking ViaMichelin for a non motorway route. It's a wide open choice for you.

    If you would like to choose one them then some of us will come up with suggested campsites or Aires at sensible spacing -  but pick your route first please.

    Thanks I hadn't come across the viaMichelin site before, I will have a good look at the alternatives.

    We always advise Members to use the viamichelin website or google maps. If you click here you will find some tips on planning routes.

    I would choose the route back via Toulouse and Limoges. The tolls are cheaper if you are coming back by motorway and with the two night stopovers you have allowed yourselves I would suggest a stop in the Dordogne area and a second stop around Tours in the Loire valley.

    This site is a lovely site only 5 km from the A20 motorway just north of Cahors.  We have stopped there several times. http://www.camping-lafaurie.com/gb/home-p1.php

    as Eurortraveller suggests, pick your route (toll or non toll) and whether you prefer sites or are happy to stop on aires...

    if youre happy with aires, i suggest you get a copy of All the Aires - France from Vicarious Books (2 vols, north and south) and aquaint yourself with www.campingcar-infos.com 'the' definitive bible for aires all over europe.

    however, the site is in French but not too tricky, and there is an Android app but not one yet for Apple products.
