German Autobahn Toll
I read that this will become reality in 2019 and will apparently be based on emission levels to determine the charge. Looks like we are going to have to pay more wherever we go soon.

Hopefully Lutz will be along soon to enlighten us. Mind you this was a production of the last German election and they are having another one this year so it could all be up for change?

I'll believe it when it happens. It's been going on for so long now that it is difficult to take it seriously. Although the European parliament apperently gave it the green light and both the German lower and upper house recently passed legislation, Austria has now gone into litigation.

Read an Article on this last week. It was if the opinion that a German politician has been pushing for this, due to a perceived injustice as Austria already has tolls and this particularly affected Germans in Bavaria as they travel into Austria frequently.
The article said that it was still nowhere near a certainty and gave examples of the possible price which was around €2.50 a day.

They might delay it long enough until the election and then who knows what the outcome may be.
However, the pricing, if and when it does come, has been decided and yes, it does depend on engine size, emissions and whether petrol or diesel. For motorhomes it will go by weight only. For foreign registered vehicles, a ten day rate costing between 2.50 and 25 Euros and a two month rate of between 7 and 50 Euros will be offered. There will be no vignette-type sticker. It will be monitored by ANPR.

Well, if applied, those rates will not bankrupt us! For many years I have thought that foreign registered cars should pay a 'toll' for driving on our roads. This would not be difficult to introduce as there are limited access points to UK - no sticker no exit from port!!!
