O.K.----What is the arrival time?

It seems that in the new year 2017 , we still have the same selfish , inconsiderate , self centered members with us .
The only thing that's going to change these members attitude towards arriving early , is to be sent packing every time , on every site & by every warden .
I have seen it happen at Chatsworth , Cheddar & Sandringham but it needs to be enforced everywhere..........👍

Compass, You do seem to have a strange attitude towards people on holiday, and towards their enjoyment, leisure, freedom and general happiness. "Send them packing" , you say. Make them do as you tell them. Toe the line. Do as you are told. I wonder how long a private business would survive with that sort of attitude towards its customers? They would leave in droves.

There is no "strange attitude" here at all its just a pointer at the selfish minority that think rules dont apply to them and they can come and go whenever they like.So lets keep it in perspective.
Oh and as regards business my locol tesco says i cant go in and buy anything until the stated opening time and they seem to have stayed in business. Strange that.

dont they open for 24 hrs to accommodate customer's demands?
ours does....

Our Tesco was 24hrs but no longer is, they stopped it many years ago!
Knowing this and despite wishing they still did open 24hrs a day, I don't expect any folk repeatedly and regularly turn up now in the out of hours times and really expect to be let in? I doubt it!

Yes many supermarkets had a big push up here to be 24, now they have all gone back to closing overnight

Good post V9.
What people forget is that we are caravanners on holiday, we are chilled out, relaxed and don't need to count every minute in the day unless we are totally neurotic.
Therefore we can be extremely flexible in our journey to site so enabling us to arrive anytime after the " no arrivals before " time for any particular site. Even into late afternoon. -----We have booked, so we will be able to pitch up in a leisurely fashion taking our time and chilling.
Cheers.........................K

Arrival times are probably more pertinent for short stays. If staying for a couple of weeks, an hour has little relevance. If it is a two day stopover, it is more relevant.

Probably right Cyber but most of my stays are Fri/Sat stays but i know and accept that it does not give me the right to push the envelope. One night or twenty one nights it makes no difference as i see it.As K says its a steady drive there and a nice leisurely set up.

So the people who don't mind others arriving early are probably arriving early themselves. Is it fair that the members that abide by the arrival time are in effect penalised by the ones that think 'to hell with it I'm on holiday, I'll do as I like'? In this day of the computer world can the Caravan Club not have a record of people who do this all the time and put some kind of penalty e.g cancel bookings, as they do with repeat no-shows? This would soon stop them. Don't say people cannot estimate times of arrival as Sat navs and AA route finder etc gives estimated times that works for a lot of people.
Members who as annoyed by this as we are should write a review every time and contact the Club themselves so that something gets done. This has gone on for too long!

Vandj, Why are you annoyed about the time other people arrive?
Somebody got to the pub before me the other day but it didn't seem to matter.

My goodness, V&J, mind your BP.
Have you seen the other thread running in Caravan and MH Chat? You can be angry there as well.

Members put pressure on wardens trying to get on to sites early as I presume the wardens are worried about having lines of outfits lined up along the road or site entrance and then getting complaints from the locals and the boys in blue but we did stay at the New Forest centenary site one year which has a long drive and that year a long line of outfits and a warden who stuck to the rules, there were some unhappy faces as we left the site. Touring is about being relaxed so we never set out on our journey till gone 11am who wants to join the rat race

If people didn't stay long after the published departure time (12 noon on most sites) there wouldn't be the need to arrive early, because there would be ample pitch choice when arriving soon after 12 noon. But because so many stay late without paying, this makes the problem far worse.

I've heard it all now.
