First time to Belgium

As a new comer to motorhomes we have tried a few UK sites and all went well.

Now we a looking to visit Liege, Belgium two weeks after Easter. We will drive from Lancashire so various routes (and prices).

Can anyone offer advise/guidence?

    Grimbergen is just up the road from the Atomium but if you go to the town and ask for an "American Burger", be aware, it's a local delicacy and comes raw!

    Brussels also recommended and you can get the bus in from the site. Grand Place, European Parliament, Mannekin Pis, Galerie de La Rein (Chocolate central) and Rue Des Bouchers (gets a bad rep but the food was good for us)

    Take the open-top bus tour ( if it isn't raining) to see what 'sites' Brussels has to offer. A day trip in the rain was enough for us - it isn't a great tourist destination!

    If you have time to fit it in, a visit to Ieper (Ypres) is well worthwhile.  There is a site called Camping Jeugstadion very close to the center, and a short walk from the Menin Gate, where a small ceremony to remember the dead of WW1 is carried out each evening.  A very moving experience.

    Another 'tip' for Belgium is not to speak in French ( if you can) unless you're sure that you're not in a Dutch-speaking region i.e.  you're in Wallonia in the southern region. Brussels is a mixture, so best just stick to English. The Flems can get upset if you try your French.smile

    Liege is in Wallonia, by the way.
