Caravan alarm suitable for a dog
Hi, was just wondering if anyone could help, we have a little dog that we sometimes leave in the van whilst swimming or showering only for a short time. We cant set the alarm as the dog would set it off but was wondering if anyone has any experience of suitable caravan door alarms or any tips on what we could use with the dog.
Thank You

Does your alarm not have a "part set" function? This usually goes off if someone tampers with doors or windows, but doesn't pick up movement inside the van. Much like a car alarm. Sorry I can't recommend a make.

I'm surprised your alarm doesn't allow setting with the internal movement sensor disabled, ccb.
There are loads of hits if you Google caravan alarms should you decide you really do need to find something else.

Ccbeaney, For the last 54 years we have had no Caravan alarm, no Caravan dog, no break ins, no thefts, and no worries. Are you perhaps carrying security too far?

I would think a lot of caravan alarms are like the one fitted to our Unicorn and yours, activated by movement and possibly tilt. Ours is located in the front offside corner pointing at the door. As long as your dog is happy being confined to the other section for a short period, on ours you can isolate that section with a flexible door. Not so good if your dog likes jumping on beds though.
It does of course depend on your van layout.

Thanks, for all your replies. I'm overly paranoid about my dog getting stolen as we have had a bad experience with someone trying to get into the awning not realising I was in the van. When I opened the door they pleaded ignorance about not realising it was the wrong van. They quickly turned and ran and i noticed they had a dog lead in hand.
We reported them to the staff office and this was a Camping and caravan club so we thought we would be pretty safe there.
On reading my manual it seemed to only give you the option to turn the PIR off inside the van but states that the leg sensors would still work but mentions nothing about the doors or windows. I will go back to the dealer and ask,
But thank you all
