Where have the posters gone ?

Interesting you say that about Facebook. I belong to the Bailey Motorhome Owners group on Facebook. Personally I find Facebook quite frustrating because if it's a busy group you can never find anything as newer posts always layer over the top of older posts. At least in a forum like this, even with all it's imperfections posts are categorised and generally easy to find. Obviously Facebook is pretty easy to use and post pictures compared to here but it is very much of the moment.

Just use the 'search in group' function. It's much easier to find something in a Facebook group than it is on CT.
It's completely different from a forum and that's why the club has both. It's clear where staff time is diverted though and it's not here

I think that the issue is we don't know who are the "newbies" are now with no star system (not that it should be bought back),perhaps there should be a post count, so that we can give the newbies a helping hand around the site, with no new comers it's just the same old things ......

Other places tend to nip problems in the bud rather than let them reach the stage we see on here. It prevents so much bad feeling.

Although it’s true we did have more regular posters on here some time ago, even then the percentage of posters was a small fraction of the total CC membership.
Many members are content just to read the forum and never join in, that is their choice. The new website then new logo change may have prompted a few to voice their concerns on CT but it was never likely that they would become regular posters IMHO.

One of the reasons that I don't use this forum as much as I used to, apart from it being so slow and the annoying drop down top bar, is having to search to find responses to my posts, when there used to be "call back" record of my previous posts.

Why should we have to do the job that should have been done by the people policing this forum?
There should be no need for a member to have to report the "So Called Trolls".... They should have been recognised and removed as soon as seen.....

I used to be a moderator on a busy social forum. Other mods were like me - unpaid. Admittedly a far bigger forum with a far greater number of active members and varied topics. It was unreasonable to expect mods who a;so wished to enjoy the forum to go into every section and thread just to read all posts. It is not simply a question therefore of 'policing' for the moderators but of helping volunteers who also have a life away from the forum.

Well Brian this is a community of members and as such surely we all have an interest and a responsibility in helping the forum to run smoothly. What you might see as "troll like behavior" might mean something different to somebody else. By reporting your concerns at least it gives the Community Manager the chance to take a broad view and take action if required. What is so difficult for us Mods that we get people calling for more moderation and others claiming the forum is over moderated so which is it?

AD, I didn't say that there was any difficulty in pressing the Report Button,I simply asked why I should.
As for justifying my opinion, I don't need to as my opinion is sound, nor do I dismiss posters as trolls wether sitting or standing. I respect posters opinions, but I do not have to agree with every thread that is posted, that is my perogative, as it is yours.
If I had wanted to report any Trolling, I would have applied to be a mod.
As I stated previously, In my opinion (justified or not) Trolls should be removed as soon as spotted, by the proper authority.....

Well this poster is recently back from a lovely 16 days in the warmth (and wet!) of Mauritius, and missed most of the kerfuffle over the name change. I'm not surprised so many folk posted at the time and have since disappeared - that's often the way with protestors of all kinds isn't it? Mind you talk of "trolls", "reporting" and "posters you don't like" on this thread hardly encourages new folk to stick around does it?

No it doesn't, I'm a past member, who joined and left and joined up again.
I (and I dare say others) are frightened to post on here due to some of the replys you get. It's not really that friendly at times, hence the reason I also joined the "Friendly Club"
(mind you their forum is not that good, so at least you can glean information from here without logging in)

I am genuinely sorry to hear that the club that I once loved has suffered so badly. But really the truth is that the management are to blame. - they simply didn't listen to the members!
The re-launch of this forum was a disaster. Instead of employing a properly experienced company to breath new life into it and introduce new features like instant photo management and a personal messaging facility, they went in house! The result a thinly face lifted awful revamp of the old system.
Then the re-launch and change of name of the CARAVAN CLUB. Why? What was the level of consultation with the membership ?
I suppose the trolls will have a real go at this post. But if they are so right, and I am so wrong, why has this forum gone so quiet? Most of us just got fed up and went away, and I take no pleasure in that at all!
The re branding of the logo was just plain daft! The Old pennant stood out and was easily recognised. The new "Walls" look alike will just fade into the background.
From a very sad past poster!

The Club Together Forum presentation is awful. It doesn't work very well. The presentation is just about as bad as it could be, with tiny feint text and pale green dismal shades.
The Club web site is just unacceptable, hard to navigate and poor functionality. Finding sites on the map is painful - terrible.
It's hard to understand how such a large business can have such a bad web site. It's always been bad and it isn't getting better.
The so called rebranding is just silly. Nothing has been achieved. People with motor caravans have always been included, so what on earth was it all about?
Its little wonder there isn't much activity on Club Together.
