I only know the prices. About £21 a night for two people and a dog in May if you book through this Club, but about £15 (€17) if you pay your own way with an ACSI card.

When we were thinking of going to the Pyrenees in May we planned to stop at La Venise Vert for a week on the way south as it looks a good site. But please don't pay through the nose CC prices when, as eurotraveller says, it is an ACSI site and in May you really don't need to book. If it is busy it may be half full but we have stayed on sites in May and there have only been another couple of vans there.

We stayed at La Venise Verte last year for about a week en route to the Gers region. It is family owned and managed - everyone was friendly and helpful. ACSI discount made it good value. Our chosen pitch was generous, flat and shared tap/waste drain with pitch behind. The shower block was not heated so in April/early May I didn't hang about! The onsite restaurant is seasonal so we just managed to have one pleasant meal in early May. Bread could be ordered at reception. One morning a lady set up a stall selling regional produce which was very nice. Wifi was quite good and I seem to recall it was free. The area is pleasant and interesting - a bit like the Broads with all the waterways. Ile de Re was less than an hour away but we were not particularly impressed and glad we were staying at La Venise Verte. Nearby Coulon, a 15-20 minute walk is very quaint and pretty. Area is popular with cyclists so my OH was happy. Would definitely consider staying again.

If you are planning to 'do it yourself' then make sure you order an ACSI Guide and Card from the ACSI website, or from Vicarious Books in Folkestone. Inside the campsite guides there is a detachable card which you fill in with your details, and show to the campsite reception on arrival. This then qualifies you for the ACSI Card discount bringing the cost down to 17 euros per night for pitch, two adults, car and caravan, awning, electricity and one dog. You could also use it on overnight sites, or sites elsewhere if on arrival you decide you don't like La Venise Verte or the area.
