Flying home from Portugal

I am looking at the possibiility of touring Northern Spain and Portugal in October and November. Flying home from maybe Faro end of November and returning mid January to tour Southern Spain. If anybody has done a similar trip I would be interested to know the best place to leave a Motorhome for about 6 weeks. I should imagine airport carparks would be quite expensive but how would it compare to leaving it at a campsite? Does anybody know of campsites in the area that will store a vehicle at a reasonable rate? Any information will be gratefully received.

A quick Google throws up the possibility of storage at Chicken Run Campsite near Portimao and a few reviews from people who have been there. It sounds to be UK owned so a phone call to them will be easy. it's about 40 miles  from Faro, but trains run every couple of hours or so. But I have no personal knowledge of it.

Check with your insurer - most, if not all, will not allow your van to be unattended for more than 36 hours or so.

I have just checked with my insurer and they confirmed that the van will not be covered while unattended. I can still leave it on site but during that time it will have no insurance.

Some people use storage sites in Spain which say thay have insurance included.

Try asking on the www.motorhomefun.co.uk forum, they have a lot of members wintering in Spain and Portugal.
