Furthermore, he gave us very short notice so that it was hard to find a pitch on another site at such short notice and we had to take the awning down during Storm Doris with the loss of a pole and damage to our awning. When the storm arrived he was noticeably absent! Also how do I take an awning down and move a big twin axle caravan when I had only just come out of hospital from what the doctor told me was a life threatening condition? He knew this and so did the others staying on the site because of the emergency services and paramedics arriving on site and having to use oxygen cylinders to help me breathe.

All this happened, brue, only 21 nights before we were due to move anyway. If he had permitted a stay of over 3 months already, why make such a big fuss over just 21 more days? Just before we left, he said to us that as long as we stay two nights somewhere else we could return. However, we decided that if we were going to move it would be for longer than two nights because moving is a lot of work and with the hours expected of us from dinner2go, we are not exactly flush with spare time to do it all! Fortunately, Alderstead Heath CMC site had 21 nights available which we were lucky to get at such short notice!

Well, you can't beat a good whinge every now and then.

It's a rather miserable damp drizzly day here. But as a "treat" I got driven down the fields to see the new cow tracks we've just done.
There are definite signs of Spring; the grass is growing (maybe too fast muttered my grumbling farmer), the Blackthorn hedges are just starting to open, the becks have fresh green weed. But underfoot it's wet and muddy.
I took some photos from inside the Land Rover, but not of the harem of hen pheasants, or hares that we saw.

Plenty of signs of Spring here in Worthing too! Daffodils, crocuses and pink blossom on the trees!
It's been a quiet afternoon so far. Just four orders, the first was from the off licence for 20 cigarettes, to a regular customer that just orders cigarettes every two days. Tasty Plaice, Macdonalds and Kfc.

OOO, can I have permission to whinge too, please, TW.
Had a productive morning, fed the birds and then session of refilling the Food Containers ( Two varieties of seed, ditto nibbles, another two of the fat balls broken up finely and a large bowl of peanuts put thro the crusher ) all these mixed up with a good quantity of grated cheddar .then stirred up, then poured into the "Ready-use" containers. Washed every thing up neatly and sat down to a cup of coffee when the post arrived.
Just one nice clean white envelope. Was it a Premium bond win, or some lawyer telling me I'd got a handsome gift from some millionaires will ?? ??
No such blooming luck -- just the Annual Council Tax Demand. They really do know how to spoil an otherwise good morning
At least the Alex And England are winning { 16:15 } so far
Dammit too good to last, Alex only drawing now

,Beautiful sunny and warm ,18+ today at the B/yd.Two crane lifts done in no wind, calm water. One more for tomorrow on high tide.Oh ,how lovely to see all the spring flowers again !!..

Annual Council Tax demand? That's one horror that I'm spared by living in the caravan! From what everyone says of their council tax bills, I doubt that my dinner2go pay would cover it if I was liable!

We've just been for a walk around Broadwater Green. A bit of fresh air and exercise to while away the time whilst awaiting the next order.

Back into action. A Macdonalds order this time.
At lunchtime we bought two Cornish Pasty meal deals at Greggs and then parked in a loading bay nearby. We were standing outside the car to eat them when lo and behold a traffic warden appeared from round the corner. My wife got first sighting and said to me 'traffic warden' so we both rushed to get back into the car. He saw us and said 'you're taking a bit of gamble, aren't you?' So we had to drive elsewhere to finish our lunch. We found a permitted place to park on Heene Road.
A second Macdonalds order has come in so now two to collect and deliver.

And it's a whinge from me :
Our Aga is more than a little unpredictable (but I love it really), but today instead of gently sweating some onions it burnt them while my back was turned.
Started again.
"Lost" the tartlet tins for the prawn tarts. Improvised with cereal bowls. I added Cayenne instead of Paprika (a tiny bit warmer than I intended).
But the upside is we'll have to have a drink or two to cool off.

Another Macdonalds order to do but at least it's after six so no problem with parking on Chapel Road. Two more hours to work but if it stays this busy, I doubt we'll get away at eight tonight! It's starting to get dark now so it's going to be finding addresses in the dark for the rest of this shift. Starting to feel tired now!

Spice is nice as the saying goes! What will you have to drink, chilled white wine?

Spent a lovely few hours in Witney today, they have an excellent sewing and knitting shop. and the parking is free, bonus.
Bought some lovely wool and a pattern for a cushion cover and throw. It'll keep me busy for a little while. Also bought some rather moreish feta and olive focaccia from one of the market stalls.
On the way home decided to see what Greenhill Farm caravan site was like as it's one of the sites the dealer we are buying the van off uses. Not that impressed, nothing like a CAMC site, but they did have a cafe. Think if they give us a choice won't pick that one.
Off to the pub with friends later

It's looking increasingly unlikely that we'll get away on time tonight. The orders are coming in thick and fast now. We've just been given two more Kfc orders. Also it's Saturday night which means long queues at KFC and Macdonalds. Unfortunately, we don't get paid for the extra time we spend queueing!

Another lovely day here warm balmy spring like air. Walked into town to collect more trial cotact lenses only had the right eye as no left prescription in. Bumped into a friend and had a catch up promises to make a date yet again! Bought plenty of bird food and other bits rather heavy so phoned home for lift. Did some cooking for the freezer. Phone call for a pal so another catch up. Actually got round to a food shop this afternoon. Just had bacon and mushroom roll with a cuppa most enjoyable.
Goldie I loved my parents Rayburn, coal fired like your Aga, so I know where you're coming from! It could be VERY temperamental especially when the wind was wrong and it blew back 😣. But we all still miss it always warm and cosy somewhere to lean against etc. It was replaced with an oil-fired boiler and radiators, house is warmer throughout but kitchen has lost its soul. Mind you mum wouldn't be able to manage it these last 10 years or more.
I'm sure your prawn tartlets will bring delicious. But I am surprised you used cereal bowls when you couldn't find your tin. Either you have small cereal bowls or large tartlet tins 😯

I've been gardening again today. I could hear our rotovator going nearby as OH lent it to a neighbour, I was half waiting to hear it go pop as it sometimes does!
I also caught up with a friend from Malta who spends time between home and the UK. I was looking at a photo of her home over there with a typical Maltese enclosed wooden balcony, painted in a colour approved by the local authority to maintain the "old" look. Hoping to see Malta one day, but will have to go when it's a bit cooler during the winter.
Talking of Agas, we had a Tirolia stove in a previous home. It was lit for high days and holidays as it was like firing up a steam engine!
Hope the pastry isn't too hot Goldie, I used to put cayenne in cheese straws for a bit of a kick.....but not too much!

We've just got a gap in between deliveries. Could this mean we can get away on time tonight? Or is this the lull before the storm? Knowing our luck we'll be sitting here with nothing to do and therefore no money earned between now and 8 p.m. and then suddenly, just as its time to go home, we're given two more orders to keep us here until 9 p.m. What's the betting?

I am in shock.....our CT bill for 2017/2018 arrived in the post today.....it was much worse than we had feared!
CT is £2881.47 and water and waste another £861.12
Total £3742.59
No reduction unless you have an income of under £479 per week, and no savings above £16000.
Seems a lot to have to pay to live in your own house!

What band are you in? We have a water meter so only pay for what we use and I doubt that it comes to more than £400 a year. Currently we pay £18 a month but that is because we built up a surplus in the account.

OH went to Ikea and secured the drawer handles DD needed for the plinth pods I am making, and dropped them off with DD.
DD is much improved today, has recovered her voice, though still has a terrible bark of a cough, plus a good sniffle.
Anyway......at least she is feeling much better, which is good, and will come with us tomorrow to her brother's place as it is grandson's birthday.
I have made some progress with the plinth pods, but most of my time was taken up by DS and his wife's brother coming to collect a sofa and chairs for DS's FIL
The suite belonged to OH's Mum, dated from the 70s but was a good G Plan one, much better than what he had, so we are pleased it has gone to a good home. Will let us reorganise our own furniture without having to worry about (deceased) MIL's furniture.

Well it appears our eldest son and family have acquired a puppy!! They went to fetch her this afternoon - she is a liver and white cocker spaniel. We are going over to meet her tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully we can 'borrow' her and take her for a walk sometimes when they are at work when she is older I have a feeling Mr H will be asked to help train her.
Goldie my parents had a Rayburn. It took my Mum a while to get used to it. She loved it for slow cooking - stews, fruit cakes etc and in the end used it for most of her cooking in the winter but had a conventional oven as well for the summer. The Rayburn kept the kitchen and the living room which led off it lovely and warm. We didn't have central heating.
I hope the knitting goes well Helen. A cushion cover and a throw will keep you busy for a while.
We are 'babysitting' our daughter's youngest 2 this evening. They are 7 and 9. I read our 7 year old grand-daughter her bedtime story (I love doing that) but 9 year old grandson wanted to read his book himself in bed. All is now quiet.

We are in the top band here' "H", which is for properties over £250k.
We looked at getting a water meter, but seems Scottish Water really do not want anyone to have a meter, the up front costs are huge and we worked out that we would not save anything.
The dear Scottish Government have arbitrarily added £500 odds to our bill, plus the 3% increase levied by our Council. They all seem to think that just because we have a nice house, we have loads of money! If only!!
Then the 40% tax band starts sooner up here now , not that that will affect us, but it will affect both of our children.
Doing well and getting on in life is apparently not thought to be a good thing anymore in Scotland.

It would be a disaster ET, but I fear we are straying into the forbidden realm of politics now!
I do agree with you on replacing CT, when we had the Community Charge it was much fairer, unless of course you now had to contribute when previously you did not!
SNP promised a local income tax.......much fairer.......but failed to deliver.
