Just got back from the Blackberry Clinic with Margaret. Since early January she has had severe pain in her shoulders, neck and upper arms. She has been to the doctors four times with this problem. Different forms of pain killers seem only to offer short term relief. One doctor sent her for an x-ray which showed arthritis in both shoulders, she suggested that steroid injections might do the trick but only a couple of doctors in the practice are trained to do them. So back to her regular doctor who had a good look at her but concluded that it was more widespread which suggested the injections would not be that effective. So he arranged a physio appointment marked as urgent! Appointment came but over a month to wait so today she phoned the doctor and asked if it was OK to seek private help which he was happy to agree but suggested that she still attend the later appointment. She was given a good examination at the Blackberry and given some exercises, not the miracle cure she was hoping for!!!
We think we have an idea what has caused this problem or at least caused it to flare up. For Christmas Margaret asked for some of those adult colouring books that are all the rage. I think she was a bit too enthusiastic and spent a lot of time using them. As a result she was positioned in such a way that strained the joints leaving her with all this pain!!!

Very sorry to hear about the pain Margaret is suffering from David, arthritic pain is so debilitating. It's strange how it can flare up (fellow sufferer here with my hands and wrists.) I haven't found an answer, I have prescribed pain killing gel and I also use an arnica gel, both seem to help when needed. I alternate them to see if one proves better at the time.

Lovely, bright sunny day but a bit windy. I did another stint of Cathedral welcoming this morning. I was let loose with taking the money for photo permits and guide books today.

Sorry to hear about your wife's arthritic pain David. I have trouble that flares up in my right foot occasionally and the GP prescribed Naproxen which is wonderful but only to be taken rarely and definitely not long term sadly.

Really lovely warm sunny day, all the daffodils are looking splendid in the sunshine. Did an extra long walk with the dog before tackling the housework, and washing. All done before work

We seem to be having the same weather as Tammygirl here on Madeira.
Very hot today. Had a walk along the coastal path to Camara de Lobos. Seemed to be looking for shade all the time.
The walk back in the afternoon was even hotter. Boy, did I enjoy that cold beer when we got back!

Yes IanH a bit to hot today, we just chilled out by the pool, even managed a dip in it.
Nice to hear you are all managing to get out in the gardens, that's the thing I miss when away, I love to be outside just wish we could have this weather when at home, well maybe not quite as hot.
DK sorry to Margaret has got problems with shoulder pain etc. I think you have hit the nail on the head though with what has caused it, I've had something similar in the past which was put down to too much knitting and reading, my physio said they are seeing more and more people with neck and shoulder pain due to hand held tablets. My Mum also complains of her right arm aching, she colours all the time.
Off out for a meal now.

Re-fitting Gaslow delayed as I had to fix other things.
We had to have a new drawbar assembly fitted recently, at our recent service, due to stress fractures, so I took a look at the work.
The 13 pin cable was not properly threaded and dangling a bit, but much worse......the breakaway cable had been threaded in a very odd manner.
This would probably have lead to it not working correctly, but worse, the sharp edges it was routed over had already, after only 30 miles towing, damaged the outer cover.
So I had to sort that too.
I will be sending a complaint to our dealer.

Have to say that I enjoyed the warmth and sunshine whilst working in the garden today. Cures a lot of aches and pains. Don't ask!
Spring is well on its way with summer not too far behind, I hope.
Get out there and enjoy it whilst you can, I gather it will be turning colder and wetter, if not windier, soon.

I reckon the opposite. I have aches in muscles and joints that certainly weren't there before my day of gardening 😉
That aside it was lovely to work with the soil in near perfect conditions. Sun on your back no wind and the birds singing even saw a tortoiseshell butterfly. Spring is definitely springing - well it did today 😀

Finally got some good news from the hospital about my wife's hip operation, she has her prechecks on March 24th and if all goes well she will have the operation on April 5th ,then in a few weeks after that we can look at getting a few days away in the M/H ........

He is in Spain just now, last contact I had with him he was fine and chasing the sun
He checks out CT now and again but not posting at the moment, he can be reached by email if you have it or need to get in touch, they should be back at the end of March I think.

Others on here can Better advise Husky as can the hospital. My only concern would be regarding seating and toilet heights. Two of my friends had the op and would have been OK with that. Your good lady can chill if the weather is decent. If recovery is slower than hoped for you can always revise.
7 weeks after a female friend had her op I had hired a canal dayboat for a group of 10 of us. The only adjustment that we made was a low step to aid access and a booster cushion. There was no problem. The toilet on board was not low.
As for somebody not being too mobile. At the end of August 2014 we went away to start a tour. First stop was Anglesey 5 nights at Cae Mawr. On the Friday night OH was fighting to breath and the paramedics attended and she was given oxygen. Next day I picked up a prescription to aid. For the first couple of days she was unable to do much more than sit outside the caravan in what was nice weather. To walk around the outside of the caravan was enough! On the third day we went out to the sail loft for coffee and lunch one day. I drove her right to the door. She was able to walk down the slope afterwards about 50 yards to where I had parked the car. By the forth day she was able to stroll in the nearby town. Not the intended star to the holiday but we felt 'might as well be unwell with the caravan as at home'.
I would anticipate a trip Husky, see if any additional preparation is needed and then play it by ear.

My neighbour had both hips replaced last January (2016) after years of debilitating pain. Within 3 weeks he was waddling ( you waddle rather than walk, bit like a penguin when both are done), at 6 weeks he was driving again, and has continued his daily waddle to the bus stop and a walk round the shopping centre.
My twin brother is having 1 hip done after Easter. He'll probably play the sick card for the full 26 weeks sick pay, knowing him
