Think I have cracked it! Fill in application as normal up to "postal code" box. in this box enter only the first 5 letters of your code. In one of the "additional address details" box, enter full post code. In "city" box, enter city in capitals (should get a tic in both box) Carry on an normal through payment page etc. make sure to use "bank card" box on payment page. Trust this works for you. I have just received conformation email

I have just ordered a Sanef Tolling Tag from the British site and took up the Caravan offer. The tag arrived and I activated it and it now waits ready for my trip.
I had no problems signing up with the Sanef.

I have just checked their website and I might of got this wrong, but the tag is free for this year and then 19.20 euros after that. So only free this year.

Ian, Apart from the postage an ATMB tag is completely free this year - no set up charge, no deposit, no monthly charge, and no annual charge.
In the second year and in subsequent years there is a charge of €1.60 for any month when the tag is in use. That's all. Nothing else.
Now I just need to find one where the tolls are free too. Still looking.

As eurotraveller says - the Tag is only charged in the Month or Months you use the Tags.
If you use the Tags, for example, in the two months of June and July next year 2018 you will be charged €3.20.
If you use it this year 2017 there will be no charge for the Tag - only the normal Toll charges.
For free motorways and no chance of any Toll charges then go to Brittany were every motorway is FREE - thanks to Anne de Bretagne in 1491.

After reading all posts on here and on another forum, I have just completed the application and received confirmation. It really couldn't be easier. Remember as others have said that your city name must be in CAPITALS, and your post code in FIRST FIVE DIGITS only. I put my full post code in the address section. Lovely Jubbly!

Just ordered mine online. Earlier someone referred to signing a contract. This is done by a number sent to your mobile which is then entered on the pay form. All those who have got a tag will already know this.
I don't use toll roads much but as I now travel alone this should be a great help to me.

Just successfully ordered my tag using the advice given above. I then received by email the user name and password, and used google translate to interpret the email.
can someone clarify.....
1. Do I need to do anything now, with this log-on?
2. What i subsequently would use the log-on for? Is it in fact my account charges for going through the tolls?
thanks for your help. With just 15 working days left before I retire, this tag will get some use soon!

You can use the user name and password to check your account when you get an email from them every month once you are using the tag, and it's easier if you first change the password to one you can remember.
The monthly account will list where you entered a motorway, where you left it, how many kilometres it was and the toll cost. It also says whether you were charged at class one (solo car) or class two (car with Caravan). Like checking your monthly bank statement, which I am sure you do ?
As an added advantage your understanding of French also gradually grows. Enjoy your holiday.

Maybe you will end up like us. We actually seek out the toll routes as they are probably the best motorways in Europe. It is quite noticeable when you come to a free section that there are fewer services, poorer road surface and much busier. That's not to say we don't use N and D roads on occasion but when we want to get somewhere directly you can't beat the Pèage.

Thanks for that clarification, hitchglitch and eurotraveller. Re the comment about solo car or car/caravan, is it the vehicle on the day (i.e. By camera at the toll) or the tag itself which defines class one v class two? I assume the former because there didn't seem to be any differentiation when ordering the tag

Thanks Deleted User User, a good point. We are planning our French trip from mid-Sept, so weather will be a factor which influences how quickly we wish to get south, and therefore how long we linger at stop-off sites and/or use autoroutes.
before France beckons, the additional flexibility that comes with retirement will see us exploring more of the UK. Up to now, of course, much of our caravanning has been at weekends, and thus often limited to a 2 hour drive or so.

We do the same thing David. We started doing this when I swapped cars and just didn't get around to sticking it on. Then I began to think it could be a security risk (although fairly minor). Someone could break into a car, steal the tag and go for a motorway joy-ride or similar? We now keep ours out of sight, clocking up your bill!! Ours is a SANEF tag which we got a few years back when there was an offer on.
I must remember to swap my method of payment to the Halifax Clarity Card which is 'fee free' for conversion from other currencies.
David
Edit: Scrub my last paragraph! I don't think it matters with Sanef. You are billed in sterling not in euros.

I received the email today with my user number & password. I went to the ATMB site but can't find how to change the password. Any advice please.
Thanks

Thanks Deleted User User. Yes, we are aware, but don't mind we'll have to pick and choose options that are open. We have other commitments which (this year) limit our timing options. But we are pretty flexible where we go, probably will opt for Med coast so as to get (hopefully) best weather.
