Bike Rack on MH

Booked our First Ferry Crossing with the MH, our MH is just under 7m, Hubby wants to take bikes as the MH has a Bike Rack. When i Rang the Club to Book the Crossing i was a  Bit Confused.

With the Bike rack on the back with no bikes on you still pay the 8 pound each way. As Brittany Ferries Charge for a  Bike Rack Whether you have a bike on it or not.

Now when the bikes are on the back of my MH it does take the length just over 7m. But that does not matter because Brittany Ferries are charging 8 each way for the bike rack you do not have to say your MH is 7.5m which is what i thought i would have to do .

Did anyone else find this confusing or just me .

Having just had a look on their website there is the question whether you have a rear-mounted bikerack and the difference in price is the £8.  How very strange, I've never come across that on any other carrier.  Unless they assume that, because there is a bikerack, there will be bicycles on it, and calculate the length taking the extended length of the bikes protruding backwards into the final price calculation.

We've not travelled by ferry very often, mainly using the tunnel, but when we have, we just added the extra length to the total length of the MH and submitted that as our total length.

I know Booking the ferry the other day i had to ask the question more than once . The MH is whatever length it is and the bike rack is charged at £8 each way .. I was going to do what you said but she said no just give me the length of the MH   she then added the price of the Bike rack which is £8 each way..

When booking through the club I, have always just given the overall length of the vehicle  including the bike rack if carrying bikes, if no bikes just the vehicle length. I think BF are the only ones who ask if a bike rack is being used. As we have a PWS  towbar which protrudes further than the folded bike rack I go with that length.
