    Good morning Ian

Yes I do agree with you 100%, I have already posted that I didn't think the changes were necessary or needed, and the cost could have been better spent. But I was replying to the OP asking what the next fiasco would be? I don't think the items stated in the OP will have any effect on people actually staying on site?

    What next?

An increase in membership and site fees to pay for the re-brand.

would roughly equate to £2.75 of each household to cover the figure you think may have been spent on the rebrand.

I think my £2.75 was wasted and I would like it refunded, but I'll take a Magnum ice cream instead.

Slightly off topic I know, but as the mahoosive thread is now locked, can I just say....

I was never offended or even mildly miffed by the rebrand and new logo, now after a week or so I actually like the new logo more than the old one. Genuinely looks better the bigger it is, so if there's any slightly bigger stickers going I'll have some pleaseinnocent. I never bothered with the others but think these are easy on the eye, and modern.

P.s. I'm currently on the "enemies" Derwentwater site and us caravanners are slightly outnumbered by the campervans and motorhomes, should we be worried surprised?? Just been mooching round the ready camp tents, they look good, could do with some on CAMC sites as an experiment maybe?

Oh No does this mean the Camping & Caravan club will have to make their name even longer with a "rebrand" and new logo to encompass all the different types of "camping"surprised

I'm booked on the 'new' Derwentwater for two weeks in June, whilst I'm competing in a couple of events at the KMF and a race further south near Coniston

Usually used the Keswick site next door, but fancied a change. Is it any good? Our caravan is a 8 metre twin axle and it'll have a Izzy Magnum on the side, I've read this will be really tight with the car, though it wasn't great at Keswick and cars were in the main, parked on the grass on the opposite side to the awning, so if the ground is hard (which it should be in June) I guess the same will happen.

Will be good to read your thoughts.

I'd better head over to the unhappy campers thread and conduct myself in a manner more becoming of a caravan club (old style) member embarassed

Given the numbers currently signing up to the C&CC, they don't need a rebrand. Whatever they are currently doing seems to be working and the CMC have had to respond...

CMC, tell us what the budget has been for this brand change

If the Club did announce the costs involved in rebranding and I doubt they will specifically, it'll be lost under a heading in the year end financial report... but if they did, and you felt it was high, what would you do? What would anyone do?

Your van will fill the length of the pitch and the magnum (oh no don't start me off on the ice cream nonsense again), will reach the edge of the hard standing. I'm fairly sure the pitches are all hardstanding so the car will be as you said. Site is as you probably know, more or less new, shower blocks good, pitches level and shiny new stones "whooo😀". Bit tight for an outfit your size but that's from my position as last in any reversing competition. Ready camp tents in the old oval site. Nice if a little regimented, good views of the hills, currently still with a dusting of snow when the mizzle clears. Also floods less than the main keswick site but is floodproofed anyway, ( we were evacuated onto the oval @ 3am from that site a couple of years ago). Then November 2015 were evacuated from the oval as well😮. Still a great spot and in my opinion better than keswick site as less chance of the dreaded knock at the door😀

During our stay at Keswick last May, again for the KMF, Derwentwater was a building site as it was undergoing a complete rebuild following Desmond.

It sounds much like the pitch sizes are about the same as most of the pitches at Keswick. Understandable, the C&CC do cram them in, after all, Keswick is now the busiest site in their network.

Weve visited twice a year for the last six years, definitely our favourite trips of the year and I don't really mind the sites being rammed full, certainly during the KMF there is a great atmosphere on the site. I expect Derwentwater will be quieter, we'll see come June :) Thanks for your reply btw :)

It's smaller, probably won't be any quieter during the festival😮, and not as open as the main site so views not quite as good. But if you're running and riding all over them anyway it's not so much of a loss. Facilities on main site are a bit tired, I think unless refurbished since I last went, so at least you can scrub up in comfort before sampling the delights of the festival/keswickian pubs of an evening. 👍👍

The upsurge with  ccc membership is probably because young families on ever more tight budgets,  are buying easerly stored family tents that can be with more space , in the times of year most holiday just good as c/v or m/v but with a normal family car and possibly small tralier

Also a few posting on here use them because they can book hard stand and also I suspect for some of their sites well placed to town areas.

I don't think that's the reason. The last few times I've stayed on CCC sites in peak season there were very few tents

It's the perception of the two clubs that tends to draw people to the CCC. That and the THSs which are really appealing whatever your budget. If you look at discussions on social media the CCC comes highly recommended.

When we had a tent we weren't in a club and if it wasn't for wanting cheap insurance we probably wouldn't be nowadays. I'd prefer to spend the fee on site fees than being 'in a club'

I am a member of both organisations because this is my first year of touring with a caravan and it seemed sensible to try both for a while to see which we prefer. So far I can find little to choose between them. I have booked 37 nights for the first half of this year with about 60% being on CMC sites. I have found on-line booking to be equally easy with both, the only difference is the need to pay a deposit with CCC sites but I don't have an issue with that.

I insured my van on a new for old basis with the CMC but recently had reason to check the premium with the CCC and found that I could have saved £150 by going with the CCC so shall check both again at renewal time.

The handbook and map is is similar for both companies and their magazines equally useless so on balance I can find little to choose between them except that the CCC forum is clearer.

I will probably continue with our membership of both next year to maintain the greater choice of sites that arrangement offers us but that will depend on our experiences through the year.

Our reason for joining the CC was to take out RP cover for our first trip abroad in 1991.

We have remained members since and have spent lots of nights on club sites but mainly now its for the ITX deals and we also use the rally program to get away with the Grandchildren.

A few years later we joined C&CC when we arrived at one of their sites and found it would save money if we did so against paying the non member fee but never renewed.

We did consider the C&CC again as we are looking at perhaps doing one of their winter sun rallies to Portugal but as their is only a small additional fee for non members will not bother.

Talking to a "dual"member this morning he told me that he has noticed more family tents on ccc sites recently,    and he does not book hardstands as they cost more with the ccc,  so is it a similar situation as serviced pitches with cc?
