we are planning a trip in september to SW france travelling from Caen down to Biarritz.

We would appreciate any suggestions for quiet good quality sites near Biarritz  and Bordeaux to base ourselves on when visiting this area of France.

we also plan to visit Dordogne on our way back so would also appreciate info on nice sites in this area as well.

many thanks for any information given.

regards, Colin

Colin, for Bordeaux there is Camping Village du Lac just outside the ring road on the north side of the city and not too far from public transport into town if that is where you want to go.  To the west there are the sites on the lakes near the sea - for example Camping Le Tedey at Lacanau which is  open  until 23 September 2017. To the east there are sites close to St Emilion. To the north there is the cute but simple site inside the walls of the old fortress at Blaye - but check the closing date for that one.So it's location, location, location depending on where you want to be.

For the Dordogne the choice is infinite - there must be at least two dozen "good sites" with hundreds of on line reviews to look at. If the weather is dry I would choose one on the riverbank somewhere south of Sarlat, but if wet certainly make for higher ground.

thanks for info, i will have a look at suggested sites. our preference for visiting the larger cities are to pitch-up on a site which has easy public transport into city and eliminates hassle of city driving and parking.
