According to this article, the Bradcot Modul-Air Awning is a modular unit that comes as a base size, with an extension module that turns it into a full awning, if required.

Note the words at the bottom though - NB THIS IS A TOURING AWNING AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SEASONAL PITCHING OR PERMANENT SITING

I had a look too as we may be in the market for a new porch.  I also noticed that  bit about suitability.  It does not inspire confidence, but would think it may  only  be a problem where an awning is left up all the time.

I would be more worried about the weight, and difficulty of getting it into the awning rail if only one person was available.

We are just home aftera nice weekend at The Ranch CC very wet here so we got soaked packing up this morning luckily the site is only a 50 minute drive from home. When we got home pur new sites handbook was waiting for us we normally just leave it in the van and use it for the directions to sites we aren.t familiar with. Not much planned this afternoon probably just stay in and watch the EFL cup final

Even though we have a seasonal pitch at Northbrook Farm club site, the club rule is that awnings have to be dismantled every 21 days. So the caravan can be left on pitch all season but not the awning. So the Bradcot awning would be suitable in those circumstances.

Air awnings are much safer than metal pole awnings. If you try to erect a metal pole awning during wind gusts there's a chance that a pole can hit you causing injury and there's also a danger of poles coming adrift and damaging the side of the caravan. My wife worries about these situations especially after Storm Katie last year on Easter Monday and again Storm Doris. So she is now determined not to use a metal poled awning anymore. So the choice now is either inflatable or nothing!

This morning we put up our inflatable Vango tent next to our caravan which will now have to do, until we get an inflatable awning.

Now how did we know that sensible posts would be ignored, just do not keep anything close to the sides if you go down the usual route of ignoring advise as in strong winds i have seen the amount of "flexing" of the sides and front of air awningsundecided

We're on our way down to Cornwall for a few days.  Just pulled up at Sedgemoor Services for a sandwich and drink.  Hope to arrive in Redruth about 7pm

Hi DSB, whilst it pretty much a safe bet that you will use the A30 many have been taking the A38 into Cornwall, due to the ongoing road works on the A30,  and that is now closed after Liskeard and involves a diversion. No issues using it but worth knowing.

I remember there being a lot of flexing of the front and sides as well as bending of the poles during Storm Katie with our metal poled awning!

Have a safe journey David, at least the last of the half term traffic will be heading northwards by now. It's a bit windy down here at the moment, but hope the weather perks up for Cornwall, a nice time to visit with all the daffodil fields out.smile

Your awning is not that old, there is always a demand for decent second hand awnings, so you could advertise it for sale.

If you take a pole the same as the missing one to an accessory shop you should be able to get a replacement to complete the frame (did you ask the wardens if they had any odd poles?)

That will help towards the expense of a new awning.

If you get the one you are thinking of, do come back and report how it does, I would be interested to hear how heavy it is , how easy to erect, and how sturdy.

Malcolm - why am I not surprised that you don't take the advice offered by the manufacturer of the air awning? undecided

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new awning and put a review on the forum.

Good advice above about selling your old one. So I guess that means that you'll just put it in the bin? I sold one that was a good few years old. Advertised it on the CC 'for sale' section and it sold within days.

Horrible start to the day here, wind rain and very dark. We still have the wind but at least the rain has gone and the sky looks to be clearing, I can even see that the sun is setting.

Had Mum today as usual on a Sunday, didn't get up to much due to the weather but she likes coming out to see us.

I bought a new Samsung Tab 4 the other day off the net, received it yesterday and now in the process of setting it up, my old one still works but for some reason it won't allow me to download books from our library anymore. I can still buy them and they work but not from the Library, just tried out the new one and its fine smile now need to go on and pick 3 books ready for our holiday.

Quite a pleasant day here - rather mild, if a little breezy.

Spent a good few hours in the garden, clearing the jungle. Filled about 10 bags with off-cuts, ready to take to the tip (too much for the compost bin).

I must admit I'm wondering what I would do in a similar situation to yours Malcolm.

Would I spend c £10-15 on a replacement awning pole or

would I spend c£800 on a new air awning?

    Hmm, decisions, decisions!! wink

Enjoyed another day at Ferry Meadows,  Weather dry with glimpses of sunshine. Have enjoyed watching the steam trains pass by the back of the caravan this afternoon.  Came back to the van after a long walk this morning  for a rest and to catch the rugby. Early start tomorrow, as have to get home for work and OH 's doctors appointment.

Malcolm, take heed of the good advice   and if you must replace your awning, get a replacement pole and  sell it, we even got £50 for an ancient one that had come with a second hand caravan we bought.
