I love early rhubarb, we usually force some and it's very mild, no sharpness. Forgot to do it this year!

The awning has to be taken down every 21 days on a seasonal pitch for the 48 hours away. Only the caravan can be left on it throughout the season.

Not the early sort, but Clumber Park walled kitchen garden, in mid May, is the place to go if you like rhubarb. Living close by we often call in to pick some up in season.

Rhubarb and apples grown in the Walled Kitchen Garden have been awarded National Plant Collection status by plant conservation charity, Plant Heritage.

They usually have various old and odd varieties for sale, as well as plants. Particularly like Victoria, named after the Queen, also Albert named her husband. We bought a Victoria plant, which we got a small crop off last year. Hopefully more this. They also have a Rhubarb festival with tastings, lots on the history, musical rhubarb and folk wandering about in Victorian costume. A great day out for both young and old.

That's not quite correct, Ian. In 2015, we used the Shogun a lot for our own personal use. We weren't doing deliveries then. We toured a lot of England, Wales, the Lake District and went as far as Edinburgh in Scotland. So much of the wear of the clutch and flywheel had nothing to do with business. It was already very worn and making a burning smell at the time we visited Edinburgh. We also noticed the burning smell when reversing the caravan on a pitch in Cornwall. So the wear on the clutch was due to personal use and towing a big twin axle caravan over long distances for about a year BEFORE starting to work. The clutch failed completely in November 2015 at the time when I had only just stared to work for Pizzarelli. So it was not a business expense and therefore should not go down on my tax return as such, should it? So if the repair costs on the Shogun don't count as a business cost then the business has been profitable.

Yes. Northbrook Farm is a Caravan Club site in Worthing or should I say Caravan and Motorhome Club site under the new logo!

We would prefer an inflatable awning because there is less risk of damage to the caravan from the poles in a storm and also because it is easy to erect and dismantle. For example, my wife would be able to manage it on her own if I was ill or  in hospital. She can't manage a pole awning on her own. A new inflatable half awning which would give us ample space for relaxers and portable oven with hobs would make life a lot easier for us compared to having to lift and put in place heavy poles everytime we have to move. Even on a seasonal pitch, the awning has to come down every 21 days and put back up two days later. It's too much work for us on top of a full time job. A fair sized new inflatable awning can be purchased for about £500. That's a small price to pay for a life of more ease and convenience.

We had a stroll round when we stayed at Clumber, we were impressed by all the varieties. The different rhubarb colours were lovely. Hope your purchases do well!

Our latest purchase for our garden is a Wellington Bloomer apple tree, which OH had been searching for last year.

Strolling round gardens is very relaxing, we're lucky to have so many places to visit in the UK. smile

We got a goody bag too when we arrived at Alderstead Heath club site. It had orange juice, cake, pen, and March edition of the club magazine.

From what I've read so far there's a comment about the new logo and how this is going to mean a better future for the club because of being more representative of motorhomers.

Those that use CC do so because it provides what they like. The name change will not alter that. Hopefully prospective members who google 'Caravan Club' will still get a suitable result?

It does wazz me off a little that the club pretends to be member centric when there communication with the membership is P poor

How many of you will continue to call it the "Caravan Club" simply because it's less of a mouthful and it is what everyone, even strangers, understands?

I doubtless will. It has taken man, many years - probably until end of 2015 to stop referring to The Midland Bank - long since changed to HSBC.

    I know surprising!

Strangely they phased it in over time. They didn't rush out to provide new chequebooks etc.

It was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was once a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index but in 1992 it was taken over by HSBC Holdings plc, who phased out the Midland Bank name in 1999 in favour of HSBC Bank. On 10 June 2015, HSBC announced that it would be rebranding its UK branches.

You could add Williams and Glyn, National Provincial, National Westminster. Apparently the first one is still around somewhere although I have not seen a branch for years. The latter two merged to form Natwest. I suppose along with the Midland Bank those old names are unblemished by association with the recent banking crisis?

A decent inflatable awning is not a one person job as they are heavier size for size than standard types that can be put up in sections

    Re inflatable awnings.

We have one - not full size, but big enough for a table and two chairs, plus a few bits and pieces. I suppose in theory one person could erect it, but I couldn't. I'm not tall enough to drag it throw the rail. And because the "poles" are part of it, it's not light.

And there's definitely no room for kitchen equipment.
