    Hi Norab,

A thread which is marked 'sticky' is to keep it at the top of the index so it doesn't drop off the page.  It's usually a topic which continues to be helpful.

A thread which is marked 'locked' has been closed to prevent further posts.  This is usually because a thread has been duplicated, gone off topic or has been submitted to the Community Manager for a review.

    Hope this helps.

Sticky? It means a mod has 'stuck' it to the top of the page to ensure folk get to read it, it's not pushed out by new threads.

locked?, it means a mod has closed it for some reason stopping anyone from posting on the threadsmile

Stickies are as explained. It is more unusual to have both a sticky and locked thread but they do exist in the Ask the Expert Section to explain to potential posters the rules concerning the use of those sections hence the Please Read Before Posting message.

It seems that a rewording of that message is needed on the main index page, to some the wording invites people to ask their questions and when the 'live' expert is available it will be answered.
