We are planning a holiday in Annecy in September, on our way home back to the port  of Caen , we are looking for interesting areas  or places to visit , our route would take us north- west of Paris , but not too near to Paris, One place we wish to visit is Monet`s garden, We would be grateful of any advice ,

  Many thanks Howard

Howard,  If you have a Motorhome you can stop overnight in the parking area at Monet's garden - useful as you can try to be first into the garden before the crowds arrive. If you want a campsite then the nearest is Camping les Fosses Rouge at St Marcel, near Vernon.

But if you like gardens then call on your way to or from Annecy at the lovely Parc Floral at Apremont sur Allier  - it's near Nevers. There's a campsite at Nevers but we liked Camping Robinson at La Guerche sur l'Aubois, about 5 miles from that garden. The site has been closed for refurbishment so should be even better by September.

We hope to be doing the same journey in May and will stop at Camping Robinson at Bourges which is 250 miles from Annecy and 265 from Ouistreham.

Bourges is a beautiful medieval town with a lovely cathedral and near the cathedral is a museum to modern craftsmanship. They have a competition every so many years to find the best craftsman in each field and display his/her work in this museum which we found very interesting and that bit different.
