Bike Wash /Pet Wash on UK sites
Hi,
While travelling in France we've notice a number of sites have facilities to wash your bicycle and pets on site.
I've not seen this on UK sites - is this something members would want? I would certainly support it.

so long as pet owners were willing to pay for the benefit, say £1 a day per dog?
Not sure about bikes but no one would worry about a quick wipe down and slosh with a bucket of water to get the mud off similar to wiping the front of a caravan or MH down.

We stayed at Castleton for the first time last December, they had a dog shower next to the service point, cold water only but handy for washing off filthy paws. The site is being redeveloped so not sure if it will still be there when it re opens.

I would happily pay say 50p/£1 into a metered charge when those with PHEV cars are asked to pay to charge or when I get a discount for not using site shower/toilet facilities.... however those commercial sites in the UK and sur le continent where we have used/seen dog showers were always free. We have never stayed at any club site with such a facility however Given the discussions about dogs I am surprised the facility hasn't been included automatically when sites are refurbished.

I think it would be a good idea to have such facilities, and like the OP have seen many sites on the continent that have them, but whilst it is not currently allowed to wash down your outfit on the Club sites I cannot ever see it becoming the norm. Regards, Roy

The one at Brecon can be used for boots, bikes and dogs. It was put in when the site was refurbished. Unlike washing your van on a pitch, the water is channeled from a concrete area into a drain, so no comparison really. I see no reason why there should be a separate charge, unless the club finds the water use is costing excessively. After all there is no separate charge for play areas, dog walks, or drying rooms. It is just part of the provided facilities.

I am sure the New Century site in the New Forest has the washing facility.

Hi
No need for extra facilities, 'cos strangely enough, I've had to deal with more than one person who thought it fit to use the shower block for their pets!
I kid you not

Yellowcraig has a dog/bike wash station, next to one of the service points, cold water only.
Bolton Abbey, there is a dog wash provided by the estate close to the CC site gates, again cold only.
When we use Exeter site, we park on heathland pitches, take our long hose pipe and clip this onto waste water point tap, and spray off bikes/dogs away from pitches. Not a problem, we leave no mess. Can do similar on other grass sites away from pitches, but choose a quiet time, not when other visitors are filling up for day, and remember to replace any site hose pipe equipment.

Are dogs not allowed in the toilet blocks/showers?
I don't remember seeing no dogs signage on the doors

Are not some things in life self-evident or are you so dog-centric?

I've recently seen a note that a site had just added a warm water supply to their dog washing facility, something that I thought a good idea, but which site?
Such facilities should be provided if there is a requirement, in my view without a separate charge, it should be part of the service even though some may not use it.
